How to turn on 3g on iphone4s?

I know its a weird question but its my first iphone n i cant figure it out.
I tired to go to
Setting
General
Network
then? celluar data is on..but nothing
help

If you are on AT&T and 3G service is available, it will show 3G at the top of your home screen.

There are no adjsutments or options to turn it to 2G or EDGE. It is on or off.

In other words OP if your don't see '3G' at the top of the screen, you are outside of 3G coverage.

It seems that Apple has hidden the option to enable or disable 3G on the 4S. 😕
