How to Turn on Automatic Software Updates on Your iPhone or iPad

This feature doesn't seem to work. 12.0.1 hasn't auto installed since it was released. Anyone else have any luck?

Can anyone confirm that turning on automatic updates for the phone will also turn on automatic updates for the watch? My mom had it turned on for the phone and we caught the watch app trying to update her s4 watch to 5.1. Luckily we stopped it by turning off her watch and by turning off wifi, but we could not find a place in the watch app to turn on/off automatic updates. Turning both her watch and wifi back on is fine because the watch app gave up trying. Still, it was a close call after those other watches were bricked. I kind of feel like the auto-update feature is a bad idea for this very reason. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
