Hello, I'm new to this site and fairly new to my Macbook Air yet. How do I remove old apps that won't let me remove them? I try dragging them to the trash and that didn't work. I tried everything I can think of without using another program to remove. I had a Blackberry and had it plugged into my MBA, so no that I've gotten rid of the BB I want rid of the program on my MBA, but it just WON'T go awaY!

What app is it, and is it still running? You have to quit apps before you can delete them.
no it wasnt running, it was some software for photo editing. i instead went to finder, applications and deleted it as it didnt seem to want to be dragged into the trash. all done now
Or you could simply read the thread.
As stated earlier, if you only want to uninstall an app, dragging it to the trash is usually enough. If the goal is to remove all traces of the app, the methods posted in your link aren't assured to catch everything.
Make sure the apps/processes aren't running at the time you drag them to the trash. That's step 1 of the following instructions:
