Hey fellas,

Been playing around with jailbreak for two weeks now, and realized that it's just not for me. I'd like to go ahead and unjailbreak my iPhone now to make it an easy upgrade to iOS 6 once it comes out.

Is there any way for me to do this while still retaining my app data / text messages / settings, etc.? If so, could someone let me know the best way to go about doing this?

Thank you for any help. :D

Just backup in itunes, restore to stock and put your itunes backup back.
It will have all you personal settings, contacts, txts, pics, etc

You could just leave it there.. the upgrade to iOS 6 won't be affected by your jailbreak. It's not like leaving it is harmful, so

So let me get this straight:

1) Make backup
2) Use "Restore"
3) Use previous back up to get all settings, texts, pictures, etc. back

Is this correct? Won't it restore it with the jailbreak, Cydia, etc. on the phone?

Yep.

No it will not reinstall Cydia, that is only done by the JB. As your firmware is on stock after the restore it will only accept stock apps and apps from app store.

Upgrading to iOS 6 IS unjailbraking. You dont't have to go to 5.1.1 first if that is what you mean.

Best thing to do is put the phone in DFU mode and restore to iOS 6 when it comes out.

Is there any special way that I'm supposed to do this? Can I just update it right from my device regardless of my jailbreak?

ETA: Mine keeps saying error has occurred

Go to iTunes...make a backup of your devices (right click, select Backup).

Then select 'Restore'. It will ask you if you want to upgrade as well, select yes... Your phone will be wiped and iOS 6 installed.

When your phone is ready, go through the activation steps on the phone...the last one will be 'restore from a backup'. Select to restore your backup in Itunes, and select the one you just made. Wait for it to complete, and all your data will be back on your phone, minus the jailbreak. Depending on whether you sync apps in iTunes or not, you may need to reinstall your apps, but all the data will be there.

You don't have to restore to unjailbreak. Just manually "update" to the same version of iOS. You won't lose any of your data. I have a tutorial on my blog: http://tactfultech.wordpress.com/2014/08/17/how-to-un-jailbreak-without-restoring-your-idevice/

i jailbroke my device about 6 months ago and have scowered the blogasphere to figure out how to restore my device to its pre jailbreak condition and functionality and haven't been able to find any assistance at all. I started posting requests over a month ago and have made at least 15 requests at as many different forums and haven't received a single response.

I successfully jailbroke my divice, then accidently deleted cydia. This is a company owned divice, and has to be turned back in for mandantory security app upgrades and installations. I have been stalling to try to find a way to restore it. if they find i have jailbroken it it could mena my job. I have tried connecting it to itunes and doing the DFU restore, and all simular methods, going through device menue to restore to factory defaults, reinstalling the pangu jailbreak then restoreing. none of it works. the device is still fully functional as of its state at the time of jailbreak, but no apps can be installed or upgraded, and the ios over air upgrade cant be done. can someone please instruct some method that might work. Im desperate and running out of time.

PLEASE HELP!!!

I have an ipad air A1475
ios 7.1
jailbreak pangu 7.1
