How to UPDATE to 10.10

Hi Guys.

My 10.10 installer is saying it needs a formatted Mac Os Journaled Volume.

Am far as i know, thats telling me it needs a fresh install, right?

Since when cant we update to a beta??

I was able to upgrade mt Mavericks install without issue. Could your existing volume be formatted differently?
