How to upgrade 2g to 3g

I have the original iphone, and im thinking about upgrading to the newer one. I have a few questions though.

What do i have to do to upgrade to the new phone

How much would it cost to upgrade

I assume you mean your buying a new phone which means your cases, and some docks aren't compatible. There's no practical way to upgrade the phone but the old one seem to fetch a good price on eBay.
