I have a jailbroken and unlocked iphone 3G, running on version 3.0 and modem firmware/baseband 04.26.08. I jailbroke it months ago, and the last time I think was when 3.0 came out.

I want to upgrade to the newest version (3.1.2 or 3.1.3) but I'm not sure how since I have an old version and haven't kept it updated. Where do I start? Do I just follow the appropriate instruction here: (How to jailbreak your iphone 3G on 3.1.2 using pwnage tool or redsn0w)?

Or do I need to do something else? All these instructions are for iphones already running 3.1.2.

Since you are unlocked, you probably need to stay unlocked.

Use Pwnage Tool 3.1.4 to create a custom_restore IPSW which will preserve your baseband. Use iTunes to install it, then Ultrasn0w to unlock.

OK, so I follow the instructions here, correct?

I downloaded PwnageTool 3.1.4, and I downloaded the ipsw file called iPhone 1,2_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw (for 3.1.2), but when I try to select it in PwnageTool, I get an error saying "wrong firmware bundle selected." So what do I do now?? :S
