I'm on the latest public beta release. It's actually is causing me A LOT of iCloud drive issues that I wasn't experiencing on any of the other public beta releases.

How do I delete the public beta profile and download the software like everyone else later today?

For OS X , all you need is to turn off receiving beta software in Mac App Store settings.

You can download a publicly available El Capitan from Mac App Store, and try to install it over current beta.

My beta el capitan has problem opening Safari would this general release version overide the beta and get the safari problem fixed.

quick question. I know for like iOS the GM is the same as the public release unless something drastic happens. Is that the same for OS X? If I'm running the GM to El Cap, should I wipe and update to the public release? Thanks guys!

Hope I didn't screw up. Turning off that switch is a "oneway street". I'm on V 10.11.1 Beta (15B22c) and hoping the full version will install over it. Is that going to work? I had another beta 9.x on my phone and missed an update which trashed the phone when the current Beta expired.

**REMOVED** - found it.

Well, last year there where 3 GMs for Yosemite. This year the ios 9 GM had a different build than the public version and if you had the GM you could get the public OTA. I just checked ElCapitan on the developer website and the public build is also slightly different than the GM released 2 weeks ago.

Just download the installer from the appStore and install it (it will not show in updates), should probably be quick if you are already running the GM.

if you are on 10.11.1.beta, you cannot roll back to 10.11.0, GM or final, unless you wipe everithing

How can I tell if I'm running the public build or the GM version. I see 10.11.1Beta 15B22c in about. Also, how do I get to the developer website?

Not interested in "wiping everything". What do you mean by "final"? And can I slide into the regular version of 10.11 when it is released from my current 10.11.1 beta?

Reading between the lines here, I'm starting to get worried. I do have a current Time Machine backup of my system (running the beta).

The final version is now live in the app store, so thats the one you want to get. It seems you have to download the full installer, but it will just upgrade as usual. Make a backup just incase

Just turn turn of the receiving beta updates in app store settings as indicated and wait until the final 10.10.1 comes out and then upgrade over your beta. I’d wager it will probably be out in the next week or so.

I turned this off so I can get the public 10.11 and override the 10.11.1 beta I have. Now, the interface is gone to turn that back on. Any idea how I do that?

you cannot revers that setting and you cannot update to the public version anyway. You have to download the full installer from the appStore. OSX never lets you update to a major version through updates, you need the installer and than upgrade.

By enrolling your Mac again via beta.apple.com. But when you have 10.11.1 installed, you cannot install 10.11.0 over it. You’d need to wipe your drive and do a clean install. That’s the only way.

These two responses contradict one another. I understand the 'updater' can't be used, but it's not possible to install 10.11 over 10.11.1 using the fully downloaded installer? I cannot wipe my machine. If that's the case, I'll just have to wait for 10.11.1 public to come out.

it is not possible to roll back to a previous version of Os X without wiping evertithing

stop receiving Beta software, wait for !0.11.1 final and install it

You can't downgrade from 10.11.1 to 10.11 public without wiping.
Didnt realise at first that you are on 10.11.1 already.

Did anybody actually tried this to see if it might work like with iOS 9? If you had the Public Beta of iOS 9.1 installed, you could've downgrade via iTunes without loosing or whipping any data off your device.

it worked for me to update from 10.11.1 to final 10.11 without issues.
So you came from the Public Beta 10.11.1 and just installed the official Installer and Installed 10.11 over it and had all your personal files and stuff remaining on your device? That's what I wanted to hear, great!

So this basically means: You actually can downgrade!
