New York City!
I have a work computer that runs software that HAS to be on a Windows 7 desktop PC. It's an 8700 Dell, what would I need to use a 27" Cinema Display (the ones that looks like an iMac- it comes with a Magsafe connector, USB connector, and the smaller squarish display port (?) plug. I don't think it's the newer 27" monitor, though it looks just like it.

Anyway, how can I use this as a display for the PC? I'm HAPPY to do ANYTHING if it's a matter of effort or cost. Is it just a matter of an adapter, or a specific graphics card with some special port or something?

If anyone knows, I'd love to hear from someone who knows what they're talking about. Or have done it.

Or if there is a reason why I can't do that, let me know that too. Thanks so much!

If it is indeed the Cinema display, you will have no problems.
Just grab an adapter.

If you have DisplayPort on your PC:

If you have DVI or HDMI only, then you'll have to find a similar adapter with Female MiniDisplayPort and Male HDMI/DVI. I've not been successful in finding one - perhaps an additional converter from DisplayPort to HDMI/DVI will work with the above adapter. (HDMI, DisplayPort and DVI all use the same signaling, so no active conversion needs to take place)

Have you found an answer? I have basically the same need.

I couldn't get it to work with the onboard graphics, now I'm going to get a graphics card with a displayport outlet right on it, to see if this works. I'm determined to get this to work.
