    Hello everyone
I would very much like to know how I can use the iphone default background (just the actual buttons on the black background) as a background for my app. - like they do in the iWash bikini girl app. Does anyone know?
    regards from tomas.
    please help :)

im not sure what you mean, you want to change the picture of the icons, or you want to change the background that the icons are on top of? your post was kind of confusing to me. but either way i know how to change both.

You should probably take this question to the Apple developer forums. This forum is not for coding help, but for general iPod discussion.

Can't you make the app take a screenshot at launch?
Then set this screenshot as your app background.

hello again and thanks for your help
I have tried what you suggested:

I take a screenshot when the function "- (void)viewDidLoad " is called - but is seems that at this point the gray default app background is already initialized - so this is what my screenshot contain! Do you know at what point (function) I can take the screenshot so that it is the black-button / iphone homescreen that is captured?

    I appreciate any suggestions :)
    regards

At no point in your code can you take a screenshot and get the users home screen. If your code is running, then your app is visible.

    ok thanks -
But if I cant take a screenshot of the users home screen - then I dont see how this way to do it will work?

So if I want to set the users home screen as a background for my app- how should I do it?

Is there a way to set the background of my app- to be transparent?

Or does any one know to a work around for this problem?
    regards

Is this iWash app available on the App Store or is it only for jailbroken phones? Are they using anybody's springboard or are they just using a generic one? If the latter, it would be pretty simple to just take a regular screenshot or find one, import that image as a resource into your project and add a UIImageView subview to the main window.

hmm well - it is an app from the app store- and I dont think it is a generic iphone background- I really would like it to be the users ihpone background that would show up as the background in my app-
but am getting nervous that this cant be done :(
    anyone?

According to their FAQ, they're not:
So, they probably have a web app of some kind (since they also claim you don't need to hack your device to use them), although I'm not sure if even that can capture a user's personalized home screen. None of the videos I've checked out of this app ever show how it is launched. Heck, maybe it's just a video.

    Thanks for your replies :)

what if I started out launching an app with no window - and from there taking a screenshot - then launching my app using this screenshot as the background image? would this be possible?

Is it possible to create an app with no window?

    regards

FYI, on their web site they have a free download called iGears. It's like their others but shows gears in front of your iphone screen. I downloaded it. It's a movie file. igears.m4v

Might be possible on a jailbroken phone. Just guessing though.
