I'm switching out my early 2008 mbp 200gb 7200rpm. with a 320gb 7200rpm 2.5 drive.

How do I use my old drive as a external hard drive?

Thanks!

Get an external USB or Firewire case. Since it's a 7200 RPM, I would go with FW400. FW800 even better.

OWC makes a very nice FW800/USB2 case. It comes with a carry case and all cables (I have a 7200 200GB drive in it). I also have one from Newegg by Rosewill. No problems with it so far (I have a 320 7200 in it right now). I prefer the OWC, but it is a bit more pricey. Both self-power off Firewire.

For USB2 only, I have a few made by Sabrent. They self-power off a single USB port (though they do come with one of those "Y" adapters).

Do you think you can find me a link to it? i don't really need a fast one. not too expensive. i think usb2.0 will suffice. maybe firewire 400. but i think 800 is too expensive.

I don't know what interface is it..
SATA I, or sata II or ide or sataI/II
what's the difference? im looking on newegg. Thanks

OtherWorldComputing (OWC) "On-The-Go" Case: http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other%20World%20Computing/MSTG800U2K/ $87.99.

The OWC is my preferred. I bought the Rosewill since I liked their FW800 3.5" enclosure, and I already had the OWC (and didn't feel like spending the extra bucks for a 2nd one).

Here's the link to the Rosewill FW800/USB2 at Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182183 $49.99

Any SATA case should work. I believe these use the same Oxford 934 chipsets, but again I prefer the OWC. Better build quality, plus the mentioned case.
