What would be good is the customisation to only charge to 80 or 90% period (as is recommended for electric cars). I'm never even close to running out of charge on my watch so I would rather forego 10% charge to prolong the battery life. I think this would be more effective that Apple's solution. (Same request for phones and Macs)

It doesn't make a big difference if you're charging it to the max and then spending those top 10% of charge right away. It's only bad if it sits at 100% for an extended period. On an electric car, you typically plug it in at home, the charger tops it off and then it sits there at 100% for most of the day, deteriorating the battery.

I'm all for customization, but personally, I would be pissed if I forgot to set it to "fully charge" before a long day. I do bring a small power bank in those situations anyway, so it's fine.

I hope my Series 1 watch even runs the newest watch OS. Quite curious about the battery level, it still lasts all day with similar usage. EDIT: damn, minimum requirement is Series 3.

My 44mm Series 4 goes strong at 96% (bought November 2018). I think I can hold off upgrading for another year.

I kinda wish it was also clearer what I'd be upgrading into, if I was to do it. The Watch product page mashes together Series 6 updates, existing features (like ECG), WatchOS 7 features, the Series 4 design, and no real-life photography.

you'll be upgrading into either a blue or red casing :p

my S4 is reporting just 85% of original capacity which is clearly accurate... what was finishing the day with 40% when new is now 25% these days. If I wore it 24 hours straight including sleep without charging it would be sub 10%.

my new S6 is coming tomorrow and I’ll be using the S4 for when I am charging the S6 to allow for easier use of sleep tracking.

My Series 4 is reporting 100% battery. Worn every day since launch. Seems unlikely to be true...

Mine is 97% , worn every day since October 2018.
I only seldom let the Watch charge the entire night up to 100%, I usually charge it after I get home while having dinner then I stop when it is over 90%

Series 4 purchased in December 2018: 93%. I wear my watch every day and use it frequently for Apple pay, EKG, heart rate monitoring, etc. I charge it bedside every night and turn it off only to reset it or upgrade the software.

For the money, I am very pleased with the Series 4. The newer watches have some interesting features, but nothing compelling enough to get me to part ways with my money. I suspect I'll keep the 4 until it gets smashed or stops working. From the looks of it, I'll get my money's worth out of it.

I was looking at the Series 3 a while ago and at the time I viewed it as sort of a toy for tech geeks like me. It was cool, and something I wanted, but not enough to spring for it. The 4 brought enough features together to make it a justifiable utilitarian device.

Shiet, my luddite wife wears the one I bought her. The ONLY piece of jewelry besides a wedding ring that I bought her that she wears daily. She's not techy by any stretch of the imagination and often laments the intigration of technology into our lives.

She says if she leaves the house without her Apple watch, she feels "naked". That says a lot.

Awww man. This is a feature I won’t be able to use until I receive my 12 Pro Max whenever that is. My jailbroken XS Max is still on 13.5 and my S4 is on 6.2.8. I am glad to see that Apple has implemented this with the Apple Watch.

Series 5 reporting 98%. I usually make it through 2 full days of use before charging, and thats including it losing 8 - 10 percentage points on average overnight.

99% series 5 44mm silver worn everyday since launch and charged at the same time every night.

I think the battery health info (if accurate) can be really interesting the coming years. I suppose we could get a better estimate of life span for Apple watches for real life usage. Yeah, we all have different use and wear, but if someone bothers to gather the info I think they could make more accurate estimates than the ones we get today.

I’m especially curious to see how much better the battery health gets for each new model.

Mine has been charged to 100% every single night since day 1 release of S4. So, anecdotally, that doesn't seem to matter.

People who are getting a lower health % reading than expected: do you discharge it below, say, 10% regularly?

Actually I don't do it because I'm afraid of damaging the battery but I don't like having devices charging next to me while I'm in bed, I usually charge the iPhone with my Mac while I'm working, same for the iPad.
I wonder if the health percentage is accurate, but anyway my Watch is usually more than 50% when I put it in charge at dinner time, so battery is still great :)

I do the same. I run most days, and it’s not until I leave that I decide if I’m running 90 mins or 4 hrs, or if I may be out 6 hours or more. Going out with less than maximum charge could leave me in trouble late in the day, so I charge it every night.

I bought the Apple Watch to use it, not to nursemaid it. :)

S5 at 93%, but I'm facing the usual watchOS upgrade battery drain fiasco that is today's Apple Quality. Yes, unpair, re-pair, and recharge to 100% usually fixes it but why do we have to do this? Come on Apple...Quality Control!

Anybody else found that watchOS 7 is killing the battery faster? Usually I have it on 17-20 hours a day depending on my shift, including one hour of exercise, and it used to be at 40-50% left by the time I was hitting the sack. Lately, I'm hitting around 10-20% at best.
