How to view backup files??

What's a good free software to use to view backup files? I have quite a few which I cannot put on my iOS8 and want to recover my pics and delete the files taking up large amount of space on my hdd.

I think ibackupbot works on the newer devices. Might be worth a try. Was free last time I checked.
