In what version of Windows was this possible natively? As far as I can remember I've always had trouble doing this no matter the Windows version. The Mac had it even in the pre-OS X/MacOS days.

AH.. MacOS 9 has a place in my heart!! What I'm also missing, unless I'm looking straight through it, is the ability to print a window. Obviously not as important as it once used to be, but I do wonder why they seem to have binned the option.

That screenshot was from MacOS 8.1 even.

Aha, print window. Yes, I remember that feature. Not sure how one would do that nowadays. Maybe not possible with built-in tools.
