Using latest version of iTunes 12.7.4

I have a collection AIFF music files on a CD. How can I convert them into Apple Lossless files while importing them into iTunes? Is there a way to do this? All I can seem to do is first use the File > Add to Library option to first add the AIFF files to iTunes, then use the File > Convert > Create Apple Lossless Version. This results in a AIFF and Apples Lossless version of the song in my library, and I then need to delete the AIFF one.

Isn't there a way to import the AIFF and convert to Apple Lossless in one process... just like when I import the songs from a music CD?

Thanks in advance for help
