I was using a touch enabled Wacom tablet for my trackpad with my old iMac though I am wondering how useful the ability to use Force Touch on the new trackpad is?

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks.

It's a beautifully made and implemented technology that really feels like the future.... and is, sadly, almost completely unused by software developers. Unlike the 3D touch pb my iPhone I almost never use it, not because it's bad - but because almost no apps on OS X take advantage of it.

With that said, the trackpad itself is really good, and a lot better, more reliable and responsive for finger input than a Wacom touch-enabled tablet (again - touch - not talking about the stylus)

Even with the lack of developer support I use force touch quite often for stuff like quick look and definitions. I really love it for quick look that one I use a lot. From time to time I'll use it to preview a link but I don't do that often.

Omnigraffle uses ForceTouch on my new Trackpad. When aligning forms the Trackpad gives feedback when something is in line with, or in the middle of, something.

It even vibrates lightly when aligning objects in Pages. Things like these make me confident about its usefulness for the future, but for now you could do without (obviously, right?).

The force touch doesn't seem like it has that much use, but the trackpad is excellent.

I had one of the older ones, but it gave me tennis elbow, and now use a Wacom tablet too (which I can't recommend highly enough). I kept the trackpad for my left hand and use it for gestures like expose / switching Windows. Got one of the new trackpads as I was sold on the idea of it being more evenly clickable.

The tablet and the trackpad in tandem are a great combination.

I ended up placing it on the left and went with the steelseries sensei wireless mouse. I'm left handed and living the dream haha.

I love the trackpad for all the reasons above - it's great now and will only get better as it becomes more integrated.
