iPod how will i know the gen of my ipod mini?

how will i know the gen of my ipod mini? am asking so i would know what to expect from the battery.

the only mini produced is the 4g mini.....the mini line didn't exist before 4g.

i think he means whether he has a 1st gen or 2nd gen mini.

if the capacity (4/6gb) is written on the back of your mini, it´s a new one.
if it´s not, it´s an old mini.

If its the 2nd gen it will say 4GB or 6GB on the back. (and there was no first gen 6GB mini.)

also, the color of the play/pause/ff/rewind symbols on the scroll wheel of the 1st gen are grey, regardless of the mini's color.

on the 2nd gen, the color of the symbols match the color of the ipod. so a pink mini would have pink labels...

i actually think they are more metallic on the second. the first ones were definitely more pastel
