Heyo,
What I'm trying to do is to save all of my contacts in a text, .pdf, .csv, or some other format so I can store it (email it to myself) and SEE who my contacts are (and their phone numbers) just in case my phone and comp are stolen or not accessible.

The only export option in Address Book is for a .abbu file, which I can't just open and read (sort of defeats the purpose of backing something up IMHO). Note I am deliberately not syncing my contacts with any email programs, so that option is out too. Anyone smart folks have a clue what I can do?

iPhone (5.0.1)
Mac (snow leopard)

Open Address Book and and hit command-a to select all then command-p to bring up the print dialog in my screen cap. Select which fields you want to print and what style you want then click the PDF button I highlighted. That will give you one PDF file with all your addresses you can view on any device.

This is from Lion, but as I recall you could do the same thing in Snow Leopard.

You're a grand master Weaselboy. That was exactly the solution I was looking for!

Thanks dude!

.abbu to .csv

Dear Weaselboy: Do you know how to do this. I need to export my contacts in .csv format but I only have them in .abbu (Name of the Prince in the Disney movie, right?)
Thanks for your help

You can use this app to export as a CSV.

Where/how are you trying to use the CSV file? OS X Address Book will also export in VCARD (.vcf) format and most other apps and services can import a VCF.

Just do a command-a to select all addresses then in the File / Export menu select export a card.
