I would be pretty upset since i usually keep it to resell in the future when upgrading but id be over it after a bit.

if u came home to find out that your wife/mom/dad/sister/roomy who ever, threw your iPad box away thinking it was trash, now that the ipad had been taken out of it?

How would u feel if they even took the time to rip the corners and smash it down to make room in the garbage can? So finding it before the the garbage man came meant nothing because the box is now useless.

Depends on who it is. Mom/Dad, and I am living under their roof - suck it up and nicely explain WHY they should not do this in the future.

Wife/Husband - you need to communicate better.

Sister/Room Mate - get your damn hands off my stuff!

Ditto, I always keep my boxes for resale.

However if I no longer plan on selling it (like when I've had the device/gadget whatever 1-2+ years) I will toss the box to make more room in my closet.

I always keep all my boxes so I would be pissed!!!! That's how you can tell a real NERD from from a casual consumer who enjoys mac products but has a life outside of them. Real Macheads enjoy the unboxing experience, keep the box, and make love to the apple stickers. :)

There I fixed that for you.

You could probably find a replacement box for sale on eBay sooner or later?

EDIT: Found one! :D

It's definitely not worth getting blowing your top with your wife/mother, etc for a box... right? If they really feel bad, you might be able to have her foot the bill for this or some other box.

$25 bucks for an empty box. apple should just start selling empty boxes! They would make more billions.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2 like Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C134 Safari/6533.18.5)

I would place an urgent call to my psychiatrist thinking my OCD was clearly out of control.

I wouldn't care at all as I've already done the same to mine.

I live in a high rise condo, storage space is very limited, so I never keep boxes.

But I wouldn't keep them even if I had a big house as I hate clutter and I'm pretty much the opposite of a pack rat. If something isn't actively being used I get rid of it. Exceptions for things like tools that you just need in occasionally etc.

Nice summary.

I kept my iPad Gen 1 boxes for only one reason. They made great platforms for my train garden last Christmas.

But as a woman who frequently has to clear out the clutter of males, put your things away neatly and they won't be touched!!! Strewn about the floor or piled high on a desk/table to randomly fall onto said floor is NOT signaling you treasure the item.

I would be pissed she didnt recycle it.

+1 haha I was thinking this.

I wouldn't care, it's a box, it has no value, even for resale it dings you like a dime, common :D. I bet you're a hoarder and still have the original iPod box in the closet. Waste of space. Recycle and move forward. :p

Did you leave it laying around where it appeared to be garbage? ... if you had tucked it away somewhere you would still have it.

If it was Mom or Dad ... you will learn

If it was your spouse you should already know better

I would feel stupid and like a dumb a$$ for just leaving where it dropped instead of properly putting it in a safe place!

There are two sides to every story...

So a girl says:
"How would you feel if the boy you recently started dating went berserk when he found out you threw away his precious empty Apple box?. Then, he ran down the street chasing after the garbage truck. Then you see him dive into the garbage truck and emerge, covered with feces from dirty diapers, holding the box with a big smile on his face. I locked the door."

We're talking about a box, right? Not a bar of gold.

I would grow some balls before posting crap like this on teh internet

as a (future) collectible, anything is more interesting when it is complete with packaging, documentation & other relevant materials such as period advertisements, etc.

Very true, I've kept the cellophane wrapping of my Season 1 DVD of Hoarders in excellent condition.

We were supposed to keep the box?
I tossed mine on purpose as soon as I was sure there was no backlight bleeding ect..
Oh and yes I did recycle the box.:D

I don't have the space, time or energy to collect boxes, instead I bought a case to keep mine in when I am not using it.

But I have no intension of reselling it, I am sure when the 3 comes out next spring, I will hand this one down to one of my 5 boys:rolleyes:
They still fight over the original iPad and whose turn it is.... Ugh but fwiw that box is long gone too!

I would be pissed at myself for not putting the box away & just leaving it out where any sane person could believe it is trash.

My wife knows I am a box hoarder, so she knows better, but I also stash my boxes immediately so she won't be tempted. If she had her way, she would throw out every single box I have.

I always keep all my boxes so I would be pissed!!!! That's how you can tell a real Machead from from a trendy pretender. Real Macheads enjoy the unboxing experience, keep the box, and love the apple stickers. :)

That must mean my Uncle Stan, the hoarder, really loves to read newspapers and the rest of us are illiterate posers.

Well, not to mention that the box on eBay has a different serial number than that of his new iPad. All hope is lost!!!

:)

Could you not salvage the serial number sticker. And stick it to a new box. I know it wont be genuine but the un-suspecting person you sell it on to will be none the wiser.

You can buy my box for $50 if you like.
