I'm thinking of installing Windows XP on my MacBook Pro to play Windows games. However, it seems like there are a lot of problems I could run into during installation and other problems once it's installed.

How would you rate your experience installing and using Windows with BootCamp? Did it give you a headache or was it a breeze? How long did it take?

Also, does anyone know of any good tutorial/help websites about BootCamp other than the official Apple site about it?

Thanks.

I had my first and only kernel panic trying to install Windows XP with the Boot Camp Beta. I clicked "Restart" to start the installation and it kernel panicked.

Other than that, the seven times I've installed either XP or Vista have gone flawlessly.

No problems with Boot Camp

The installation instructions were fine for me

I had no problems with Vista installation, but I get little pops and stutters when listening to music. Not constantly, but enough to be annoying :(

I'd rate my experience with 4 out of 5 stars. The only problem I ran into was thinking that the partition was already formatted (it wasn't) so I tried installing Windows anyway but it totally messed up the partition so I had to delete it and do it all over again. Other than that, I've not had any problems with the set up process (I've learned my lesson to always format the partition). After you install Windows is when all the problems begin :p

Installing XP was a walk in the park but adding a Ubuntu partition was quite a lot trickier.

One thing, I'm not sure whether it was the old Boot Camp beta or the Leopard one but one or t'other caused an oddity whereby XP SP3 kept trying to install itself in the wrong partition. After a lot of googling I found which entry in the Registry to alter but if you do encounter the same problem the answer is out there somewhere.

I run Vista64 on a fifth hard disk and its fine (tho I do get a few probs with my headset but I am certainnow its the drivers)

otherwise all is good and vista really flies :D

RTFM and you'll be fine. 99% of the problems people report are because they just whacked away at it. As far as using it, well, it's just another Windows laptop at that point, but a better one than I've ever had before.
