I went to best buy to buy a xoom, bought it, on the way out there was a table with iPads open box, well I went there to look at the price, one box my wife points out that is thinner... So, I pick it up, and BAM!! iPad 2 16GB Verizon 3G!

When I went to the counter 3 best buy employees looked at me like I had a bar of gold?! They asked me where I found it, and charged me full price! On an open box item!! That's cool whatever I will sell this one, I have 2 iPads and a xoom, I found this one, no line, no one knew it was there, so I don't feel bad about re selling it... :)

And I called the DM today, he gave me a $75 gift card since it was open box, and he's giving the store manager a write up..

I don't like re selling, but on this one, why not. You should have seen the guy next to me, when I picked up the box and said to my wife, "it is an iPad 2!!" yeah buddy. He was waiting for me to put it down for 1 sec! I mean he wanted it bad!!! lol the manager told me he would charge me full price, if I didn't want it, some one ells would buy it... Well for her smugness she got what she deserved. :p

Lol o don't really have any way to prove it, but it is, I assure you.. I can even show the receipts of the xoom I bought a few minutes before the iPad 2, then the the receipt for the iPad 2... If I felt like I needed to prove anything I guess.. But it happened and we (including the best buy employees) were freaking out lol

The problems with the story are threefold.

1) best buy having a table with iPads on it is very unlikely since iPads are a lock up item.

2) best buy is not supposed to sell open box iPads or iPods let alone have a whole table of them.

3) you were fine with paying full price in your original post, but then all of the sudden decided you needed to call the dm who gave you a gift card and told you that they were going to write up the manager

None of these things make any sense, but it was a nice story I guess...

^^While those are very solid points I agree with we all know the caliber of Best Buy employees.

They are shysters, liars, borderline retards, Not very knowledgeable about products but sure will work you over to get more money out of you at the last minute.

Most of them despise Apple Products so I wouldn't put it past them to put it out on a table like that. All it takes is one retard who hates his job to get back at his Best Buy Peers.

Anyhow it's fairly credible.

Is OP the same guy that got a refurb iPhone full of gay porn from Rogers and then got $500 from them too?

Lol you guys are crazy, ok how do I post pics? I don't know why, but I feel like putting all you nay Sayers to shame..

1) I'll take a picture of the table full of iPads 1 open box, there outside of the cage, they have so many of them.

2) when I post the reciept up, look at the time, where would you buy an iPad 2 at best buy at 9:00pm? Central time it was closing time ;)

3) I was not fine with full price, I had an argument with the manager but could do nothing about it, I told her I would call the DM, they gave me a 1800 number and I was pissed! I had them go over all the phone options to get to the DM, turns out, it was the correct number.

4) eBay Item number: 290546650955 yes I know I put I opened it, but I thought that sounded better than, a returned open box :)p the plastic was still on the iPad, so it was still new to me...

Let me knowhow to post pics please, I'll do it ASAP.. As this was a crazy, true story, and I wish you guys could have seen the best buy employees faces! All of them were shocked!

Some best buy employees are morons.

Didn't get the impression OP was happy paying full price in the OP. Not saying OPs story is true, but your counterpoints aren't very strong in my mind either.

I'll put it all to rest if some one could explain to me how to post a picture...

Is this specific to the iPad/iPods? The reason I ask is because my local BB had a table of open-box laptops out today, including a 2nd gen Air.

The OP's story sounds believable to me.

I wouldn't mind posting pictures, I even have some of the table with the iPads, I just don't know how.

In the reply box, look for the little paperclip icon near the smiley face. That is for attachments. Although like someone said before- don't waste your time. These jackass naysayers are just trolling. And they're jealous :D.

wow

Some people up here really amaze me. Best Buy isn't allowed to sell open box iPad's or iPod's? I work for Best Buy. We are without a doubt, allowed to sell open item Apple products. They are no different than any other product. When a customer returns an item, it either goes to PRC or open item. If the item is defective then it goes to PRC. If it is a perfectly fine TV or in this case, iPad, then it goes open item. When it comes to windows laptops or desktops, those go to PRC no matter what because we will lose money on them if we sell them as open item. We don't have a choice as to what price we sell Apple products. That is a contract between Apple and Best Buy. They tell us a price, we sell it for that. We also have a contract with them saying that if an iPad, Macbook, or iMac is defective, we will send it to services for repair. Once it returns to us we will sell it as open item. We also sell customer returns as open item if nothing is wrong with them. All we have to do is reload them to the factory settings. As far as Best Buy employees not knowing anything, keep telling yourself that. It's funny how one of the biggest well know companies can not know anything about the products they sell. Also, for Best Buy employees not liking Apple products, around 75% of the employees that work at my store own Macbooks. I would have to say about 95% own iPods/iPhones. Sounds like they like Apple pretty good to me. I for one believe the story. We have a table in the back where we set open item laptops all the time. As far as NEW iPads, we will have them in a clear plastic box with a magnetic lock on it if it is displayed on the floor. Each store is different about displaying open items. It all comes down to the general manager.

OK trying to attach a file lets see if it works...
