Do you like the iPhone being done the Apple Way or how you would envision it?

I trust Apple, but I don't "fully" trust any company or most people. Whatever Apple envisions for me is fine...until I don't like it, and then I won't buy it. Having said that, I'd still rather leave the designing to Apple, but I'd also always want the option to jailbreak.

That has nothing to do with it Cali. Companies that aren't non-profit are in business to make money. If revenue/profit wasn't a factor then most companies could blast out product at cost and brag about overall numbers.

You've missed the point in almost every post you've made.

iOS is a developers platform. Apple tried to do the advertising thing but it's just not effective (iAD).

Android is an advertising platform.

So how I want the iPhone to be is the perfect vehicle for outstanding, well crafted applications that are worth the money.

We can talk about overall sales until we're blue in the face but the reality is even Apple's "Free" phone (3GS) nets them $375 per phone. Apple's average phone is equivalent to the cream of Android's crop. Apple doesn't do cheap throw-a-way phones.

Man this isn't true at all, it's more like Apple's flagship phone isn't as good as older Android phones (SGS II). They really really need to get on the ball in this department.

I honestly believe people who slag off Android have not spent decent time with any of the more recent ones, or 4.0.

Also, about the making money part, you are absolutely correct. Unfortunately Apple also sold themselves on the idea that they were out to improve the world via their products. I think it's become clear this was a huge lie, and they really do solely exist to make gobs of money on high margin. slightly behind, products. They do this by marketing their products as a lifestyle. We will see if they can maintain the kinds of sales numbers they are currently seeing for the next year or two...

SGS 2 Specs
  • Bluetooth 3.0 is equivalent to the one year old iPhone 4 not the 4S.
  • Android 2.3. That's like running iOS 3 on a current phone.
  • WVGA (800 x 480) resolution on a larger screen is far inferior to 960x640 on a smaller screen.

All about making money.

Apple has a Genius Bar that takes more appointments than they can schedule. Genius probably make $40k or more per year in most markets. Apple does not charge even one penny for any Apple owner to come in and take 10/15 minutes of a Genius time. That's a cost that Apple bears the brunt of so when you start talking about Apple doesn't care about anything but money please point me to the Samsung stores that are deliver free tech support.

That's clever marketing, and something that other companies (such as Microsoft) are starting to pick up on. It's difficult to make this argument either way though. You can say that the Genius bar is proof positive that Apple does care deeply about their consumers. I can say the Genius bar is proof positive that Apple knows what their consumers want and therefore is able to extract more money out of them that way. Honestly, I think that both of us would be right, to a degree. A company caring about their consumers does so because they know that it is good business practice. It's the reason big tobacco funds hundreds of millions a year in cancer research and McDonald's funds healthy eating habit education. Does big tobacco care? Does McDonald's care? I know they care about money. About their consumers? You tell me.

Although, I totally understand your preference for a physical keyboard, I have gotten used to the on-screen keyboard. I almost never take out my bluetooth keyboard. I type 75 wpm on a regular keyboard, and about 50 wpm on my on-screen, I just don't see it as much of a hindrance.

I have tried to refrain from using the physical keyboard on my phone for a week. I didn't like it and went back to the physical keyboard. I also don't like that an on screen keyboard covers up a significant portion of the screen.

For my tablet, I hate the on screen keyboard with a passion. I learned how to type by sensing where the keys are by touch. My fingers rest on the home row. I then type without actually looking at the keys. With an on screen keyboard, I can't feel where the keys are and I have to always look at the keys instead of where on the screen the words appear. I can't type even a quarter of the my regular typing speed with an on screen keyboard on my tablet. With the Transformer keyboard dock, I can type around 75% of my typing speed on a full-sized keyboard. The smaller keyboard of the keyboard dock slows me down a bit, but I am pretty proficient with it now.

I think that Android 2.3 has a lot of features that aren't even in iOS 5. When I saw some of the new features in iOS 6, I felt that my Android 2.3 phone had a number of them already. Even when my phone was running on Android 2.2, it could do almost everything 2.3 did.

Well said.

If the Iphone has a >4.5 screen size I may think about it. Srsly 3.5 even 4 inch feels so tiny to me. I use my phone on the train for webbrowsing a lot and I cant stand looking at tiny texts.
