So I’m curious, how are people’s battery life on the XS Max?

The reason I ask is because I feel my XS Max’s battery life isnt as great as my X at launch but I could just be using my phone more now.

This is just now with 11% left for my XS Max.

If you are using iCloud, your phone may have been populating gigabytes of info. Give the thing a week or two besides that point to get a better idea. This happens EVERY launch and there will probably be numerous more threads coming about battery life.
I would agree but I don’t use iCloud at all

Let it settle in, but Facebook and Chrome kill the battery, and they are your top used apps. My first day, today was much better then my X, but to early to tell for sure how much improved it will be.

I think it’s sucks.

35% left, 13 hrs standby, connected to WiFi all day except for around 90 mins

Click on the last 10 days tab. Then click the bar graph on the current day.. Say you plug your phone in before bed and don't use it till you wake up then you will have the correct battery stats for that day starting past midnight. The screen shot you have is showing you the last 24 hours of usage bled together. Thats not showing you your usage since your last full charge. Get what I'm saying?

Mine is either the same or a little worse. I have to charge at 5pm but I am a heavy user

My XS is terrible. After 9 years as a happy iPhone owner I’m seriously considering returning this one - never done that before. I don’t have email on my phone, no Facebook, no iCloud, background app refresh turned off globally, no apps allowed to use location services in the background and only a few apps allowed to use them even when active, notifications only allowed by a handful of apps. I mostly use my phone for music and iBook reading (iBook on dark theme to optimise power for OLED screen) and only urgent texts and emails. With all that my battery life is worse on my 5 day old Xs than on my 3 year old 6s. I got 3 hours of iBooks reading time before my phone hit 20%. 3 hours of a few white pixels on a 90% black OLED screen with no processing except for a page turn every 40 seconds or so on a phone that Apple claims can stream video over Wi-Fi for 14 hours!!! I didn’t buy it direct from Apple but maybe I’ll try to get a swap but I’m also very tempted to just get a refund and take stock again next year, either a Samsung Galaxy S10 or a 2019 iPhone but I must say this experience has seriously dented my faith in Apple.

I’m confused about this whole new battery stats screen and what does this whole “screen off” mean if my phone has been off the charger for 13 hrs and screen on for over 4 hrs what does the screen off for almost 2 hrs mean?

It means something is consuming your battery in the background, either permittted or not (including downloads of files, Facebook, etc).

I get pretty great battery here on my iPhone X Max. I charged it at 8:34AM and have been doing a lot of mixed usage on Wi-Fi and LTE and finished my day with 27% at Midnight when I took the screenshot. :) I am so content since this is MUCH better than my old iPhone X.

On mritech's screenshot Music would seem to be the pretty obvious candidate there since it's showing 14% of the use and I assume he doesn't listen to music while staring at the active screen the whole time so some of that screen off time will be while the iPhone was essentially acting as an iPod.

Is there a way to reset these stats? I'd quite like to reset them all back to zero when I take my phone off the charger so that I can more easily see what I'm getting from a full charge.

Well that’s gonna be annoying if I have to close that app while I’m at work until I drive again cause now I won’t be able to easily just play music when I get in the car and pick up from where I left off. I used to leave the app open all day long with my other phones. I’m on the fence of wanting my 8 back but it’s already on its way back to them

My 7 was usually in Powersaver mode by the time I went to bed and my XS at 50%ish so far with same usage. Charge overnight and no charging during the day..Quite happy with that!
