I’ve never had any pair of in ear headphones, Apple or otherwise, that stayed in my ears. I had some APP 1 and the fit on those was terrible, even with custom tips. I gave up because I was ashtrays pushing them back in.
I just got some APP 3s and, using the large tips, the fit is ideal. ANC is amazing and they’re really comfortable. Really happy with them.

Yep. This is the best it’s ever been for in-ear users. Finally usurped my Bose QC Ultra earbuds for overall experience.

I still find that the Bose ear tips feel more comfortable and secure in my ears. If not for the hearing aid and live listen functions, I would stick with Bose.

I am over the moon... I have never been able to wear AirPods or AirPods Pro as they would fall out even sitting still, even when I tried foam tips. I always gave them to my wife who loved them all and uses AirPods Pro 2 currently. I tried for 9 years. After the really positive reviews of the new fit of AirPods Pro 3 I took a chance and ordered two pairs to try, like a sucker again... they fit me PERFECTLY straight out of the box, medium tip!!! Secure, shaking my, etc. they stay in... its like an entirely different product for me. I havent yet run in them and gotten sweaty but I strongly suspect they will be fine.

HOWEVER to my shock, they don't work for my wife. She wore the XS tip in the APP2 and APP3 medium... falls out, S falls out, XS fits "ok" in the left ear and falls out in the right, XXS (the new smallest size) fits "ok" in the left ear and stays in the right only if she twists the AirPod downward into her ear canal and she has lasting pain even after a few minutes. The acoustic fit test shows a fail at all the sizes for her.

What a bummer... Apple fixed these for me and broke them for her... it just goes to show how you can try and fit everyone but there will always be a few it just doesn't work with. She isn't upset as she loves the APP2 but I know they already stopped production on them so in the long term it's going to be an issue. I don't know how dumb it would be to buy a fresh pair at the $100-ish discount they have and just store them away or something if they wouldn't ruin the battery.

I was having issues with my airpods(my SO kept telling me she couldn’t understand me, My voice was extremely muddy, sometimes robotic, etc). Once apple learns of my place of purchase, they tell me to return them and buy another pair. While asking them to make a note, stating the manufacturer told me to return them, rather than go through their multi week apple care process.

So, I decided to try the APP3 for a week. If not I was going to get 2 pairs for $150 bucks each, so I had a backup.

I’ve been extremely happy with the 3’s, but see if your local Costco has the 2’s still for $149.99.

I ended up returning my APP3 today. They just didn't feel right in the ear. The medium tip was too big while the small tip felt a tad too loose. I am back on my APP2 for the moment. If and when they do give out, then we will see.

I guess lightning lives on another day in my house. 😬

Yet another person who finds the APP3 less comfortable than the 2s. I was a size L in the 2s and could wear them for hours, occasionally forgetting they were in my ears. Tried the S, M, and L tips on the 3s and could not find a fit that gave me a good seal and that were comfortable to wear for more than 20-30 mins. I also found the ANC performance to be worse than on my APP2s, though this may have been a side effect of not being able to get a good fit. The sound quality on the 3s was more different than better to my ears. Mids were clearer on the 3s but I found the 2s had more bass. In any case, I didn’t find the sound to be dramatically better and the ANC and fit/comfort were worse for me.

Returning the 3s and picked up a new pair of 2s for $149 from Costco with AC+ included. These will replace my launch day APP2s with lightning case, as they are now 3 years old and the battery doesn’t hold up well anymore. Will sit with the 2s for another few years and see how things look. It’s a shame as I absolutely love my AirPods. But the change in design just shows how personal fit is for in ear headphones.

Unfortunately, I tapped out on these. I bought AirPods 4 to try alongside these since I wasn't a huge fan of APP 2's. I was hopeful that the APP 3's genuinely had a better fit. Which they did. But I felt they went too far into my ears. I wanted to see which ones fit me better, and the comfort level on the AirPods 4 was soooooo much higher than the APP 3's. The APP 3's are great headphones, but I had to return them. Just not for me.

The Bose QC Ultra still have better ANC. I’m pretty torn over which buds I prefer. The AirPods experience is so seamless, but ultimately ANC is still better with the Bose.

This is the closest it’s ever been though.

It is funny how subjective these things are, of course, when it comes to fit. Some swear by the APP1/2 (not me or my wife) and others love the new fit of the APP3 (myself and my wife).

I’ve never owned a pair of headphones that had a worse fit. Medium sized tips push out of the ear and if used for two or three hours actively hurt my ears. The SM sized tips don’t seal so it might as well not have anything other than transparency.

They never should have messed with the fit. I bought two pairs and was so excited. They’re either getting returned or thrown away though sadly.

Why on earth would you just throw them out? At the very least, give them to someone who might like them.

The last AirPods Pro that I owned was gen 1. They would not stay in my ears. Tried buying after market foam tips. It would stay in my ear but would fall out after a few hours. Returned them and never got another pair.

I’ve been seeing reviews on these and all these reviewers saying it goes in the ear a little deeper + the added silicone/foam tips makes them fit better. But I just want to hear from normal peoples experiences.
I was in the exact same boat. I hated that they (Gen 1 APPs) didn't stay in my ears. I also could not get a consistent seal when I did place them in. And when they were in they were not comfortable. Tried the foam tips which improved the experience but over time they degraded and just stopped being effective.

I am happy to report that this 3rd gen version is sooooo much better...so far.

Working great for me, fit is an improvement over my last set (APP1s). No issues with them staying in my ears. Did some yard work, chores around the house, etc. - no problems. So, pretty happy with it.

ANC hasn't been "great" for me. I've been daily driving Sony in-ear XM5's waiting on these APP3's to eventually come out after trying APP2's from a friend (gross I know) and still had the fitment issues. The XM5's seem notably better in ANC.

I still think week 1 or 2 when the APP1s were released before they nerfed ANC for being too harsh for some was the best ANC there ever was. I can hear my fingers snap, typing, etc. with my earbuds in. It's just not a great ANC experience for me comparatively, although it does work well enough. I will have to try different fitments out with the ranges of tips provided to see if any of them help. I'm on my 3rd set today (used the ones that came out the box, Medium, now Smalls trying to get into a smugger fit I think).

As far as sound, it's good too. Definetly more bass, but I'm not sure it's as "rich" as it could be. An improvement over my APP1s for sure, APP2's maybe better? It's been a year since I've tried those though so can't say much. Compared to XM5's, these have more bass - but again the APP3's just lacking...richness in the audio. It's like...a lull in a frequency that's just not as prominent as it should be. I don't think it's awful, though. Not by any means. Just different.

Give us EQ and it'll be dialed in to everyone's preference beyond the default I think.
Update - after a bit more time with the APP3's I do get some discomfort on extended wearing sessions. Not painful, but discomfort for sure. I am going to do some additional fit tests and longevity with the other tips (I'm on the smaller sizes). Maybe there is a balance between ear fit and longer-term comfortability. Still, I'd almost take this over them just constantly falling out of my ears like the APP1/2s.

More secure, less comfortable. 4 days in, they still hurt. As a general rule of thumb I give it 2 weeks for my ears to adjust to change, before final verdict. ANC and sound quality are better.

The key to reduce the chance of tips slipping out is to wipe your skin oils away from the AirPods & the skin surface in your ears that they make contact with.

Wet a tissue & wipe your ears clean. Then wet another part of the tissue & wipe the tips as well as the bud itself.

It makes a big difference. I find when I do this, I feel the suction sound of the tips when removing them - proof they were as secure as possible in your ears.

Not sure how y'all are doing it with anything that "hurts".

All the headphones and earbuds I've ever loved and kept and used were comfortable straight away and remained so for hours.

There's no way I'm subjecting my ears (or head in the case of over-ear cans) to pain or discomfort.
No way.

I am really struggling with them, trying my hardest to make it work as my Pro 2 batteries are destroyed.

Personally, they fit fine for me and feel a bit better in the “seal” department. I like the sensory touch feel of the APP2’s better, but not enough to go with them over the 3s.

I had the 2s. I think the 3s are better in the areas that count. Fit, sound, microphone, ANC, connection issues. I generally no longer have to constantly go into my settings when changing devices. To assign my AirPods to the device I want to use them with.

So far I find them noticeably less comfortable than the APP2. I’m actually pretty disappointed. I’ll give them a little longer, but I wish they hadn’t changed the fit.
I really want to love them - but for me the fit is nowhere near as good with the 3s compared to the 2s. It's a shame as I'd love the features of the new ones, but think I'm likely going to return them as they're just too uncomfortable :(
Exact same issue on all counts! :( I just picked up the APP3 today at the local Apple Store. They sound fantastic, love that they track heart rate, etc., but they are uncomfortable and don't fit my ears as well as APP2.

(And this is after I took the hearing aid test which confirms the right size ear tips fit.)

I'm using the same size ear tips as APP2 but man, these things are uncomfortable. Don't know whose ears Apple redesigned these for but it wasn't mine. Likely going to return. Sad about it, but what else can I do? 🤷‍♂️
