I have noticed some errant processes at times on my 52. This morning the phone was warm and in about 10 minutes of use dropped from 50% to 42%. I restarted it, shut down a few random apps, and then battery life normalized. I'm guessing there are still some bugs in iOS 7.0.2 or some programs not designed for it that need to be sorted out.

This is after 3 complete charge cycles. Mixture of couple hours of music, over 2 hours of phone calls, 20 minute FaceTime, a little Gps and web browsing on wifi. I have all the other usual suspect battery drainers off like background app refresh etc.... Hoping to get the 9 hours others are. Any thoughts?

Looking good finally

How did you manage to get good battery life? I'm still struggling over here. Did a full restore (as in I manually download the iOS 7.0.2 IPSW for the 5S and restored it in iTunes, and then setup as new) and it actually seems to have gotten a bit worse. I also calibrated the battery twice after the restore (100%-0% and then back to 100%) and that didn't help with things either.

I get similar numbers. I have switched off auto-brightness too. I think I am happy with this. Though I wonder why others get 8 hours with only a few percent left (I am not sure about the one with 9 hours usage at 50% or so).

I can barely get to 5.5 hours of usage. I'd kill or 8-9 hours of usage. The one with 9 hours of usage and only at 58% is CRAZY. Must have a super battery or something.

Yep, he/she forgot to mention the juice pack... I found that the signal strength (wifi or 3G/4G) has an impact as well as the use of auto brightness. But yes, 5.5 hours (with normal use) is not great... Maybe have a word with Apple?

Mine is definitely better than my 5, I was off running the other day and noticed a huge difference, after just one charge cycle.

I was constantly using my phone, texting, FB, music playing, reading a book, email, a phone call from my dad… and realized I could easily get over 7 hours of my constant heavy use. I didn't have to turn on my Mophie, at all.

Theres a lot of people saying to let the phone cycle battery a few times...wondering if anyone has seen a huge difference after letting the battery completely drain a few times....I really dont want to set up as a new phone.

I drained mine completely the first two recharges and have been seeing pretty good battery life.

My very first discharge after fully charging it resulted in:

Battery remaining: 8%
Usage: 6 hours and 28 minutes
Standby: 1 day, 17 hours

I've been seeing better but haven't bothered to screenshot it. Maybe I will tomorrow after another discharge cycle.

For the first two days my 5S battery was terrible. It barely lasted half of the day. On the third day, and after cycling the battery a couple of times, I'm getting great battery life now. Easily made it through my work day with 52% remaining when I got home.

Right that sounds really good, but Im just curious how quite a few people include a friend of mine with an iPhone 5 are getting 9+ hours of total usage while I barely get over 6 hours....

When browsing the web (wi-fi or LTE) my battery drains at 1% every 3 or 4 minutes....that equals 5-6.5 hours of straight browsing....Apple claims up to 10...Thats about half. Something just seems off. I have ALL major battery draining options off including app refresh, auto-downloading, most location services. Brightness at 30%.

Its far from bad, but just not up to par with what Apple claims. Its good, just not THAT good.

Different activities tend to drain the battery more. A perfect example would be going on the internet as opposed to listening to Music. I've seen battery life vary between 5-8. Hours.

Makes sense but Apple is quoting 10 hours of battery life for web browsing and Anandtech has done testing in "typical situations" at 70% brightness(200 nits) quoting over 8 hours.....

Make sure to turn on your Wi-Fi when you're not using data (i.e. LTE) to conserve your battery. Having data on whether its 3G/LTE will zip your battery (especially if you have low reception) compared to if you were on Wi-Fi alone. Try it and see if it works. Of course you want to do all the other jazz like brightness on the lower end of the spectrum, turning some notification off, tweaking your location services, etc. There are exceptions to this rule such as you having a faulty battery.

Just got my phone in today. Will report with some results tomorrow. Hoping my battery stands strong - one of the main reasons for me getting an iphone rather than an android.

Also from what I know, killing your phone to ZERO percent kills the cells inside the lithium battery which results in shorter life expectancy.

Forgot to mention that I have not turned off anything.. All options are enabled. Today, for example, I drove to work streaming Spotify for 40 minutes. I was at 98% when I got to work. Now that's awesome!

So annoying. Heading to the Apple tomorrow night, I'm praying that they give me a replacement with a good battery this time.

iPhone 5s arrived yesterday ... So far I think it does a lot better than my 5 did. It didn't like being away from the charging cord for very long.

Since the 4s I don't feel the iPhone has lived up to Apple battery claims under my usage. But def think the 5s is better so far.

Did you restore from new? I streamed about 15 minutes of Audio in my car and lost 2%. Restoring fresh is just a pain.

I've had my 5s for barely 24 hours and have been playing with it a lot including many times where I just unlock it because Touch ID is so cool. My battery life has been great so far. I'm using 7.02. Apparently there are some battery management tweaks going into 7.03 to be released soon, but I'm personally OK with how the battery performs vis a vis the 4s I used previously.

Wtf? How is this possible. My battery is complete trash.

Yeah not sure why everyone's battery is so all over the place. Some are getting 5 hours. Some get 6 or 7 and some are getting 9 or 10. I know it's subjective but still we are all on new iPhone 5s so.....
