Hi,

I have now Mac mini and liked to change it to iMac, probably used model newer than 2011. But seems iMac make it hard to do. Elitebook (win7) has vga and HP displayport. Is there any possibility to connect hp to iMac as monitor, with wqhd resolution?

Just dumb person, explain it easy and if you have managed to find proper cable, please let me know. And link to webshop :)

I'm not sure but I think older versions of iMacs can be used as a screen-only device.

You would need an iMac with DisplayPort but not Thunderbolt. That rules out any iMac mid-2011 or newer.

Yes, that's the problem, would like to buy iMac newer than 2011, because older macs possibility to broke is higher. And repairing quite expensive. So no possibility to connect hp laptop to iMac 2012 and newer?
