Thanks for your reply Gsahli,

I read the search results, but I couldn't find any help for the user name and password. I looked at the newsgroup forum section. People are seeking for the same answer.

Since I am not an experienced computer user, I didn't understand what people say in those newsgroup forum.

I though there would be a fixed user name and password for everyone to use for the CUPS web interface. I seems like there are different user names and passwords for everyone's computer.

I am using latest mac. and I don't have any computer user name and passowrd to open my own computer.

Thank you again for your reply!

Hp 1600 -

Can you believe it, despite my gut instinct telling me it was too good to be true, an end of line bargain for $200 and I'm the sad owner of a HP 1600. I tried to go to the Linux page but it is not available now. Any other drivers work for this machine I'm on 10.5, any body any ideas

It looks like they replaced the files with newer revisions...

Try these:

Hi .. I am looking to upgrade my Mac Book Pro to Snow Leopard, but the HP CLJ 1600 printer I have is holding me back.
I have used the information in this thread to get it to work correctly on Leopard, but I need to know that these drivers work with Snow Leopard before I take the plunge !!
Could some one please let me know ....

Thanks ..

Sincerely,

Well, I've just tried printing in colour. It's not working in Snow Leopard. I tried the work around posted above, but it isn't working.

Can anyone help? I want to be able to print in colour.

Many thanks,
Lox

Hoping you don't mind a newbie re opening this thread, I have done the work around suggested in the thread and it works for bw printing but when trying to use the localhost 631 printer prefs I am being asked for a username and password (just like some other users here) and am being refused access despite using every possible combination of username and password I can think of, the faq suggests that for latest OS versions the username is typically own name lower case I have tried that and even reset my password on CUPS.org site all to no avail. I am now into my third hour of trying to sort this problem.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Ok I'll persist, I managed to sort out the login situation the info from CUPS was NOT clear. I now have the problem that when I make the printer pref changes (setting to colour) which the site tells me is successful no printing happens whatsoever....! Anyone...?

Print Jobs not disappearing

Instruction are working– thank you!

Only issue with the driver is that the print jobs are not disappearing from the queue after completing. This poses a problem since my LJ1600 is networked via a router and the router software releases the printer connection once the queue clears. Any thoughts on why this occurs? I looked on Bugzilla for similar Foomatic bugs but couldn’t find any. This is on Snow Leopard. Thanks in advance!

Successfully connected my Macbook to a HP Color Laserjet 1600

As I understand it, the 2600 is essentially the same printer as the 1600. OS X drivers for the 2600 can be found here.

You might want to follow the instructions in this thread for installing an HP Laserjet 1020 (also not OS X supported) with HP Laserjet 1022 drivers (OS X supported). Trying the step by step directions with the 2600 driver, even though you're installing a 1600 printer, seems like it would be worth a shot. :)

It can be done! I used what "thedude110" recommended and can print both b/w and in color. I'm very happy.

Here is what I did.
1. Clicked spotlight (search) and typed "print and fax" which opens system preferences.
2. Clicked the "+" symbol under the printers field.
3. I choose IP and typed the following:
Address: (IP address of your DPR-1260)
Queue: (name of your printer or LPR Queue Name: which can be found just after logging into your print server)
Print Using: (Select Printer Software and find HP Color LaserJet 2600n, 1.2.0.224)
4. Click "Add".

Now test your printer by printing a b/w and a color page. I'm so glad I found this page. I hope others find this page an realize how easy it is to print to a DPR-1260 > HP 1600.
