HP Printer - Officejet 8610 not working

I have just purchased a new HP Printer Officejet Pro 8610. Despite numerous calls to both Apple and HP, I cannot get my Mac (Version El Capitan 10.11.3) to print!
The driver has installed properly and will print a test page. It will also print using the cable. Other PCs can print from this printer.
My Mac will not let me print anything wirelessly - I have tried everything! It just says 'connecting to printer' but then nothing happens.
Any advice?

What were the steps taken to add the printer on your Mac? You may have to go through the process again to give an accurate description.
