Trying to install an HP8550 laser printer on Mac G5 running OSX 10.5.6 using the Jetdirect ethernet connection. Problem seems to be the printer IP address does not match the computer IP address.

Printer IP is 192.0.0.192

Computer IP is 72.211.144.27

Do I have change the printer IP, or is there an easier way?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Your going to have to get the printer on the same subnetwork (for home users that means the same IP range). So go into the printer and put it in that network as your computer.

You computer seems to have a IP of 72.211.144.0/0 (maybe). So just get into your router and see what addresses are being used. Then assign another IP in the 72.211.144.xxx range and then the printer will be in the same subnet as the same subnet as your computer.
