I've been having an issue with my AW3 LTE. When I run, the HR monitor produces some absurd readings. On my last five runs, my average HR has been between 182 bpm and 202 bpm. I don't why it overreads my runs so badly, because it does a pretty good job with other activites, such as HIIT, tennis, gym workouts, etc. Today I was running and saw my watch was reading a HR of 199 bpm. I took a quick check of my pulse and my actual HR was right around 150 bpm.

The worst part about this is that it is overestimates "exercise calories," which is my primary means of monitoring my daily activity.

I've tried different things with my watch position, orientation, etc., but I still get these abnormal readings when I run.

Does anyone else have this sort of problem?

I have tested mine against a HR strap several time, it’s always very close while running or biking so I ditched the strap. May be worth a call to Apple support.

Me too. Here are two readings (admittedly from two different runs, I was pushing myself a bit more in the second one)
Can you guess which reading is from an external Bluetooth sensor which is from the Apple Watch ?

I'm assuming the BT strap is the top picture. Either way, the comparison isn't totally fair. The bottom picture has a much narrower range, so it looks more erratic.

If you were to put the data for both runs using the same ranges, the aw sensor would look a little better. Not saying it would look better than the strap, bit at least better than the 2nd picture
