I’ve been having issues with HRV in that most days it won’t update automatically. I have to use the breath app and the numbers seem high.

Anyone else notice this or have a solution? I’ve rebooted the watch same issue.

thanks

assuming you've used the TLA for heart rate varriablity.

high variability is good,

if your heart makes bigger changes in speed faster, it means you're healthier. Think about your heart slowing down after a run.

I think it also only gets a value if your heart rate is changing, so if you're heart rate is fairly steady, then it won't have a number.

If you only have a number when you do breathe, your heart rate is sitting high, and must drop when you breathe.

or maybe you're doing breathe early in the morning, and just haven't been active enough to get your heart rate up yet.

*TLA - three letter acronym - handy but sometimes confusing in forums where a lot of topics are discussed. Helpful for others to get you the correct help if you spell it out at least once in your post

@waw74 You really have no idea what john is talking about... :)

Heart rate variability is literally the variance in time between the beats of your heart. So, if your heart rate is 60 beats per minute, it's not actually beating once every second. Within that minute there may be 0.9 seconds between two beats, for example, and 1.15 seconds between two others...

@john991 I have no issue with HRV. I'm on iOS15 beta and WatchOS 7.5
Тhe watch makes regular measurements (at fairly large intervals - 3 times a day). I do not use the breathing app.
