I don't understand why they can't slim down the bezels at the top and bottom of the screens.. at 5.5", phones going to be huge.

But that is where the boom sound speakers are...... That is the signature of the One series.....

The black area where the HTC logo is at the bottom and the empty space at the top between the screen and speakers? (looks like they placed a sensor there)

C'mon guys.

Let's remember the rumors of the M8 camera before it's announcement... what was it? 13Mpx combined between the two cameras?

I don't believe this M8 Prime will have an Mpx camera or anything closer.

I can't tell what's plastic and what's metal. To me, the rear panel looks like synthetic material (someone said 'liquid silicon'?) while the outside frame seems to be aluminum, or something similar. The protruding camera is big downer as well. I haven't read any additional rumors--been detailed anywhere?

Two many phones damm

No kidding. I am really considering buying one of those cheap phones off contract and never looking at a new phone again. I have a Note 3 and the thing seems obsolete with some of the new, sweet designs out there of these new phones. Including the WP upgrades.

Maddening how fast the industry is churning out new phones.

Made a promise to myself to never buy HTC again after they released the One X+. Looks like they are still up with their usual shenanigans with the HTC One Prime. Not again for me.

It is kinda funny how Samsung gets blasted for doing this but HTC gets a pass.....

Samsung releases different versions of practically the same phone. No one with an S4/S5 regretted the purchase after Samsung released whatever incarnation they came up with. On the other hand, HTC puts out a significantly improved version just mere months after their supposed flagship release.

Don't forget the M8 Mini rumored to have a better camera too.....

HTC's Senior Global Online Communications Manager says the black area houses circuitry, antenna, etc. and that stretching the screen to cover the area would destroy the aspect ratio. That was the response to criticisms about the M8 I would assume the same would be true for the Prime.

Come on, these are completely different situations. The One X+ offered slight incremental updates in what was basically an identical chassis. The One M8 and One M8 Prime are completely different phones (assuming these leaks are accurate, of course). The Prime has a much larger display with a different resolution in a phone made with completely different build materials and using an entirely different camera.

Getting upset with HTC for releasing this device after the One M8 is like getting upset with Samsung for releasing the Note 3 six months after the Galaxy S4.

Very true. the HTC Prime is the Note contender and the M8 an S series.
