HTC invites industry to New York even to show what's next

With confirmation that Apple and Amazon will be holding events this month, it comes as no surprise to learn another competitor in the mobile market will be hosting their own event.
HTC has sent out invites to a New York event to be held on September 19, where they promise to reveal "what's next."
There's no indication of what exactly HTC plans to show off at the event in two weeks, but with rumors about new HTC devices piling up in recent months, there's certainly no shortage of possibilities.
A new phone? A new tablet?

HTC has already revealed they've been developing a new tablet, though very little about the device has been shared beyond the acknowledgment of its existence.
A benchmarking for the HTC Vertex was discovered earlier this year, which may indicate HTC was planning to compete against the Nexus 7.
It's possible the Vertex is the tablet on display in these leaked photos, however no new concrete information about this mystery device has come to light.
Additionally, a few short weeks ago, photos of the HTC Proto were discovered, giving us the first glimpse at the new 4-inch phone.
Whether or not either of these two devices will be on hand remains to be seen, however HTC obviously has something important up its sleeve that they can't wait to show off.
No matter what HTC brings to the table, September is gearing up to be a very crowded month for reveals, so they had better bring their "A" game if they want to stand out from competitors.

A pair of images surfaced over the Labor Day weekend that could prove to be the first glimpse of HTC's rumored 5-inch Android smartphone. The Chinese forum on which these shots made their debut has since removed the pics, but not before The Verge caught wind.
The two photos show a svelte, black HTC device trimmed in red with the Beats Audio logo visible on its rear. Looking decidedly Verizon-esque, the phone calls to mind the Droid Incredible series from the past few years.

It's still unclear if this may ultimately be the rumored model that will boast a 1,920x1,080-pixel HD display. Android faithful might recall hearing back in April that HTC plans on bringing a 5-inch experience to Verizon this fall. Additional tidbits that have trickled out include the possibility of an HTC 6435LVW running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 1.5GHz processor and Adreno 320 GPU.

Looks pretty cool on that photo. Here's hoping it's a Note 2 competitor with all the huge screen and snappy hardware awesome but a little less of the fugly. ICS at this point would be a disappointment though, that can't be for real.

I dunno, somewhere in West Texas
From everything I'm hearing, this is supposed to be the HTC Endeavor C2 or the HTC One X+ which will house a 1.7GHz quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor.

HTC has had a tough couple of years now. I hope they get a winner. The HTC One X is a stunning device hampered by software. I want to see that same design prowess applied to other types of devices.

im not sure the degradation in performance due to the full HD screen would be worth it
