Didn't the HTC U11 ship with proprietary USB-C headphones? I would wait to see if they rectified that in the U12 before considering a buy.

Always interested.

Be good to see what kind of camera results they get with a dual set up seeing as the HTC U11+ camera was touted as one of the only ones that could come close to the Pixel 2's in all scenarios...

Always interested here, as well. To me, HTC is the company that’s “magical” lol, I did put down the idea of their squeezy sided phones but in my Pixel 2 it truly is magical. I am amused that I need only squeeze my phone, say “Lumos” (and quickly place my finger on the FPS to instantly unlock) and I have the flashlight. It all happens faster and smoother than my description makes it sound. I don’t feel like such a Muggle when I do that. :p

I don’t have any illusions about there being any customer service left to speak of if anything goes wrong, though. So my interest is more academic than practical. My Pixel 2’s HTC DNA is satisfyingly strong. I love that.

I thought the M7, M8, and M9 were incredibly designed phones ahead of their time. When I dealt with HTC’s tech support over the phone they were awesome.

Sadly, I think HTC’s best days are behind it now. They use to make better phones than Samsung. Now they just want to charge flagship prices for what honestly is a mid-range phone.

I don’t understand why they abandoned the 3.5mm jack. I would think that it is even more popular outside the U.S. which appears to be HTC’s target market.

Seems like HTC smartened up and will release only one major flagship this year. It will also be a prelude to the Pixel 3 in all likelihood. If it is $650 for the same leaked spec sheet, I would be much interested as long as the device offers 6gb RAM. I want to just get myself as future proof as possible since that will be the main RAM quantity for a bit.

HTC will launch its next Android flagship on May 23rd.. HTC’s next major Android release, which is almost certain to be the HTC U12!?

Images ahead of the launch have suggested the U12 won’t have a notch, marking a break with the majority of Android flagships this year.. thankfully!

HTC also can get our attention with their lower revenue performances.

HTC already tried the one phone a year thing with the HTC One M7. It didn’t work out for them then and I doubt it will work out better now.

They cannot get it together either.

Unfortunately, you pretty much nailed it with the post above. Even with making the Pixel line for Google they can’t seem to run a successful company. It’s a shame because they’ve made some amazing products. They just don’t have the scale to compete with companies like Samsung, Huawei or Motorola/Lenovo.

A small, high end phone about the size of the iPhone SE and a phablet sized phone, both with a 3.5mm audio jack, would really help differentiate them from the current crowd. Right now the seem to be lost n he flood of new Android smartphones that are released each year.

They should try to ink a deal with Microsoft to preload Microsoft’s Android launcher and apps on all their phones in exchange for selling their phones in Microsoft’s retail stores and Web site. They should also try to partner up with the Microsoft OEM’s who aren’t selling smartphone to see how they can better integrate into their products.

I'd be down if the future Pixels looked like this: https://www.phonearena.com/news/HTC-U12-price-release-date-leak_id104819

Unless the price is much more affordable, I am out on the HTC U12+. $769 USD is way too much for a device. I rather snag a Pixel 2XL on a deal. I might be over facial rec tech because it limits my choices to an iPhone X or an Android device like Samsung.

Will not be happy if it looks like that. They could have at least kept that glass back from the U11 in those awesome colours.

Also depends on size. HTC's recent flagships have all been huge.

Silly HTC pre-orders. They still haven’t learned that “ships in June” is not enticing for pre-orders. How hard is it to declare a release date?

Not a bad offering.

Another solid option for a relatively clean Android experience with a great camera.
