Hello,
I have recently bought a Mac OS X 10.6.8. It is refurbished but seems to work fine. I am studying an HTML course and have been using a pc so it's been slightly different but I cannot get the file to translate from text to HTML. I save the file as .html and once opened it merely displays the coding I have just typed in TextEdit.
I have checked that .txt has not automatically been added on the end.
In TextEdit preferences I have set format to plain text and to ignore rich text commands as I read this is the usual culprit - still no joy.

What am I doing wrong here?

Thanks

Also, are you opening the file by double clicking it? Try opening it from within Safari/Firefox via File->Open, or by dragging your .html file down to the Safari/Firefox icon in your dock. Does that make a difference?
