Should be a piece of cake as Siri is so crappy I need to use the Google app as a replacement . The real competitor is Google Assistant

This will end up like Samsung's S-voice, ie. nobody uses them.
And exactly who uses Siri. In 5 years never have I seen anyone talking to their phone

This is a nonstarter. I understand why Huawei wants to differentiate, but they are going to have as much luck with a personal assistant as Samsung has had developing their own OS.

And was I even talking about Siri?

On Android, it's pointless to use a manufacturer specific service. Seems like Huawei could've used the budget for something better than to duplicate Google's offering.

The way I understand it, Huawei is NOT duplicating any Google functionality in China:

Android phones made and sold in China do not come with Google Services such as search, youtube, gmail, assistant, play store.

(This is mostly because Google refused to comply with government censorship, starting back around 2010. This lost Google a huge lead in search services there. They also stopped allowing app payments, leading to China developing its own app stores. People can download and add the services, but most are now useless inside China due to government internet blocks instituted in 2014 for the 25th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre.)

So adding a Chinese language and culture oriented voice assistant would indeed differentiate Huawei in the China phone market.

If I'm switching to Android, Huawei would be my first choice. Their price and quality is unmatched to any Android phone maker I currently know. Their smartwatch and phone combined is cheaper than just an iPhone itself. I've been pondering a lot on this one lately, maybe I'll wait and see what Apple has to offer. With the rumors of price going up to 1K, it's getting hard to find a reason for me to get one.
Xiaomi

Here’s a tongue-in-cheek suggestion. Instead of another half-baked artificial assistant, China could offer a human assistant. With their population, they could offer an actual person for every iPhone user. Even with the language barrier, it’s bound to be better than Siri.
