Huawei Honor 5x!!!

So this device is an interesting specimen, but I think the general consensus is people would be more comfortable if EMUI
1) Wasn't buggy
2) didn't look like broken iOS

I want Huawei to succeed in the US, but I think it would require them to seriously overhall EMUI

I've never been. You can get better barbecue in Lockhart (Kreuz in particular) and you don't have to wait all morning.

What is up with these vine free sample reviews all over amazon? How are people getting free stuff to review?

well it has a qualcomm processor, very likely to be a big seller. Hence there will be tons of roms. I would definitely puchase this over every other phone under $300.
 
I considered it but I can't get clarification on "unlocked for US" form the manufacturer. The band are limited so I assume that taking out of the country would cause issues as many countries don't use the bands available on this phone. But they also won't confirm if it will work with an international SIM card in a country that does have those bands. But basically, it's a Dual SIM phone that you can't travel well with. Non-starter for me.
 
Waiting for a price drop. Still a good value for $200 but Best Buy can probably have it on sale for $130. Maybe even less like $100 considering how cheap the Moto E 4G and ZMax 2 dropped. Definitely better value than the Huawei P8 lite at the same price. But a Snapdragon 616 shouldn't cost more than $150 after seeing Alcatel's Flash series which generally looks the same as the Honor 5X. Probably closer to Black Friday, an Honor 5X can be bought for half its current price.
 
I picked one up, no surprise there and I had $30 in Rewards so that brought down the cost at BB. 🙂

It is a $200 smartphone so let's get that straight. But it has 1080p and a fingerprint scanner, daydream as well. Battery life is very good, I have not gone through enough cycles yet but it only loses 2% overnight. The display is good and audio output through earphones really impressed me to tell the truth. Couldn't tell you about the camera, I wouldn't even know where to begin to describe the quality anyways versus other smartphones. And I changed to Nova launcher right off the bat.

Much has been written about memory management elsewhere in threads. This smartphone lets you choose which apps would remain remaining in the background (choice of 3), the rest get closed. That's the way they handle it.

If one opens developer options there is a limit one can set for apps running in the background on smartphones, I usually leave it on standard. What happens if you increase it I'm unsure since you have chosen in battery management section what would remain open so I would have to do some tests.

Very good reviews on amazon, mostly very positive. For $200 it is a steal.
 
I have seen it as low as $125 used on amazon, I would if this is a better value than the Moto G 3rd gen

Nope, the Moto X Pure is more expensive but getting one on sale is the best bet. I have one, I am not keeping the Honor more than likely.
 
I purchased this phone the other day for under $200 brand new ($165 to be exact). Wow. What a STEAL for the price! A HUGE plus is XDA rom support, so if you want stock Android, you could easily flash it.

The one thing I hate hearing and seeing in video reviews is what a smudge magnet the 5X is. I am waiting for the 5C.

If the Moto G4 arrives for $199.99, it might end up being the better choice vs the Honor 5X with the updated Snapdragon 6xx series. Huawei will have good competition in the $200 price range once the Nexus 4 look-alike G4 arrives in Best Buy next month. Midrange market is getting really good!

Qualcomm
400 series - $150 or less
600 series - $200-$300
800 series - $300+

Too bad I can't stand the battery hungry 6xx and 8xx Snapdragons don't seem worth it for getting them for a minimum of $400 in most phones.
