I thought it was odd that after getting battery level updates for approx every 15% reduction, the last battery update had Huawei at 29%, iPhone 25% and Samsung 26% then no more updates. Why not show when they are at around 10 to 15%?
Also, what does "optimum" brightness mean? In a controlled test, all phones should be calibrated to identical levels.
Edit: Also Huawei should be set to NORMAL and not VIVID in the display settings. I found this had a significant affect on battery life as well as looking better on the P20 Pro.

it also got beat by the note (barely) but still. i expected the 20 pro to win easily vs all the phones. disappointing but maybe its just the prelease software. if not then getting beat by the note 9's chip doesnt look too good.

if this ends up being how long the battery actually lasts, i'll hold out of the s10.

This was an odd test, but I am. Waiting to see others to.
Here's another one, but the Mate 20 Pro won it by quite a margin, I wonder if it's due to newer software, as even the Huawei display units at launch even had older Firmware than mine and it seems some reviewers got those, but we'll never know:

yeah i didnt like this one simply b/c they ran a couple of benchmarks. just too unrealistic for me as that isnt what anyone is ever going to do on their phones.

Let's see what GSMArena and PhoneArena find.

I have had incredible battery life with this thing, but maybe the competition has truly caught up to Huawei, which is not at all a bad thing. :)

The more I read about this phone the more I believe it is currently the best phone on the market that is actually worth the price. I have considered every 900+ phone over priced until now. Props to Huawei. Hopefully it sells well so they keep innovating.

I agree. The only thing preventing it from being perfect is no notch but Huawei didn't skimp on anything.

Thank you so much for this explanation. This is very helpful.

I see references to “Pro” and “Lite” versions. Can you explain how that works?

Has anyone been able to acquire a Mate 20 in the U.S. yet?

GM, I assume you husband is using his P20 Pro on AT&T since in the past you’ve mentioned you use AT&T as you primary cellular service. Does you husband have access to enhanced calling features like WiFi calling, VoLTE calling and visual voicemail?

I'm ordering this phone once I find someplace that I can order from the USA.

I have ordered imports from the NeverMSRP store on eBay. A highly rated reseller that ships phones out of Houston. They don't have the Mate 20 yet but keep an eye on this store (looks like the have the mate 20 lite?). There's a few others on eBay that are highly reputable as well I just can't remember their names at the moment.

EDIT: I ordered the P20 earlier this year from this eBay store: https://www.ebay.com/usr/sobeonline1 and had a great experience. Looks like they have the Mate 20 Lite only for the mate 20 series at the moment.

I don’t know offhand. I think he has WiFi calling but not the rest. I’ll ask him and get back to you.

    Sure :)

The Mate 20 Lite is the mid range version, it is quite literally the phablet version of the P20 Lite. It's rocking the mid range Kirin710 SoC. I had the Mate 20 Lite for 2 weeks, it's a great device, super high quality build but it is no Flagship.

The Mate 20 Pro, which I have now is the premium high end. In Huawei the Pro devices are the most feature packed versions of the phone you are looking at.

Thank you. I’m very interested to find out because I’m on AT&T also. AT&T seems to be the stingiest of the four U.S. carriers when it comes to enhanced calling features on unlocked/unbranded Android devices.

I don't know if there's an equivalent list for the stricter AT&T but even on more flexible T-Mobile, Huawei handsets usually only support VoLTE and not WIFI calling.

Is yours also a review unit? I am on 113 FW, so waiting for 122 as well.

    Stunning picture by the way!

No, official wholesale unit with firmware 9.0.0.108 (dual sim) which IS indeed beta firmware!!! :D
A lot of advertised functions are NOT available with this pre-release firmware.
According to Huawei Germany the rollout may take up to 8 weeks until we get either 113 or 122.
Why? Rollout in waves to prevent server overloads at Huawei and the possibility to stop the rollout if a severe bug is part of the firmware.... Single SIM units are part of wave 1 as some of them already got the 122 yesterday.
A big hurray for Apples update policy! :D

Wait, they sold you a phone with Beta FW!? That is odd. What functions are not working?

I got mine on the day of announcement with the 113 FW. It's also the Dual SIM [IMG]

Yes, 108 is BETA (pre-release firmware).
    German article: https://www.huaweiblog.de/software/...vorserien-firmware-verkauft-update-gestartet/

All European Dual Sim M20pro seem to have 108.

    No turbo mode.
    No 3D scan.
    Disturbed crackling sound in videos
No video cinema effects or any video filters
Faceunlock works with my buddy's face and others faces
    Camera quality...
