I have a MBA 2020 (M1) and sometimes I want to copy files between to USB-C external drives or connect my iPad and a USB-C drive at the same time. That works fine, but I can’t power my MBA at the same time.

Are there any hubs that can connect two USB-C devices at once, but still power the MBA? I haven’t been able to find any. I did find a Thunderbolt 4 hub that does this, but the MBA only supports Thunderbolt 3.

Any ideas?

MBA supports any USB-C hub or dock. So you can buy a dock like this or a more expensive TB model.

I’m not sure that does what I want. Do the hub power the upstream usb-c device (MBA) and allow connecting two other usb-c data devices?

Seems like it, yes. One of the pics with the overview of the ports shows one port labelled ”connect to host” and then there are an additional two USB-C ports (in addition to a whole host of other ports).

Yes, you connect your MBA to the USB-C port at the back. It gets up to 85W from the dock.

The front two USB-C ports provide power (7.5W + 18W) and data.
