UPS/FedEx drivers are freakin' ninjas, I don't know the last time I actually talked to one when they were delivering something. By the time I get to the door they are half way back to the truck.

Not this time, you gotta sign for it. So there is your chance, hug him/her.

My UPS guy is pretty cool, we get stuff from UPS all the time so we see him a lot... but there's still no way I'm going to try and hug the guy.

None of that matters. Who cares if they are getting paid. Why is that even a factor? We are all human and deserve friendly human interaction. What if everyone on this planet lived their lives like everyone was getting paid for what they did and no love was shown?

Everyone deserves to be loved and a hug is a simple way to thank them, salary or not.

Please, answer my last question if you would. I'm curious.

Who are the last 3 random people you hugged and what situation were you in when you did?

I would never hug the UPS guys. In our neighborhood (1 acre lots, houses about 120 ft from the street, uphill driveways) they either leave it in the mailbox at the street (if it fits), wedge it between the mailbox and the post, or leave it in the mulch next to the mailbox (sometimes on a plant). If they are feeling really adventurous that day they drive up the driveway, remain seated, and throw the box up against the garage door, where it just falls to the concrete. Signature required? No worries, they still leave it down on the street.

FedEx (at least around here) at least does the "ding dong ditch" by ringing the doorbell and running away as fast as they can.

Once, I hugged a walmart lady for hooking me up with a free pair of $40 skull candy headphones. Also, I hugged a girl in Panama City Beach, Florida just last Sunday. She was walking around and she asked for a hug so I hugged her.

It's not like I am always hugging people randomly. That's not the point. All I'm saying is, everyone deserves a hug and iPhone preorderers will have the opportunity. I don't see why not. The delivery people have to be exhausted and probably wouldn't refuse. Besides, a little positive influence could change their lives. Haven't you seen that commercial with the people doing good deeds and it inspires others to do the same?

I don't see why anyone would deny the opportunity to spread some positivity.

If you don't want to do it, fine. No one will make you. But the idea that you shouldn't do something nice for someone because they are getting paid generates a horrible, negative attitude toward the working class. An attitude that I see in people everyday and I hate.

Hugs

What is it with these people asking for hugs. I am hearing about it everywhere and went to an arts show in town and there were a couple people walking around with signs for Free Hugs?

In my eyes, a hug shows that you are not alone. I guess for people like me, hugs are special. When you live your life ignored by most, a random hug is a pleasant reminder that there are caring people in the world.

The Walmart lady gave you a free product. The other girl asked for a hug. Good reason to hug her. Although I don't know of many people who go around asking random people for hugs. Check yourself.

Why would they be exhausted? The deliver the whole day anyway...

I also saw a commercial where someone was flying. It didn't work for me.

I don't see why anyone would deny the opportunity to spread some positivity.

And I don't see why any random would walk into where I work and hug me.

That's only one of the reasons. The main one is that I don't know my UPS person. I don't want to be hugged by random people. Honestly, that's just encroaching on my personal space. It's creepy, and it's weird. This isn't an art festival, this is every day life. You got a package delivered.

The best thing you can do for your local carrier / show appreciation for FedEX/UPS is through your local hub for a carrier and if you want to thank the whole system just go to the site. A good customer comment on file will go leaps and bounds beyond an awkward hug.

On another note, being a dude, hugging guys is beyond weird for me. Hugging girls is cool because they're soft ;)

Ya, I get my cast off next week. Really excited. :)

I can honestly say I tried "Land Swimming." Definitely sucked. ;)

I didn't expect anyone to actually hug their UPS or FedEx guy. That is weird. I just wanted to know how people would react and I defended it as long as I could.

You win.

Me and my friends were thinking about doing a "free hugs day". :)

Well you're a girl (I think- I saw your pictures in Post Your Picture threads- I think).

It's different when you're a girl. Girls are soft and stuff, Guys are either muscular, or bony. None are really actually soft.

Also, I would never hug my UPS guy unless I knew him on a personal basis. Whenever he delivers something, he's back to his truck by the time I answer the door.

FedEx= Fail in my area.

DHL-Fail in my area.

Nobody ever uses those.
