Hi guys,

I cant believe what just happened. I was trying to update my non jailbroken iphone to 3.1.3 software. All of the sudden it says ' unexpected error, cannot update iphone' .

and now , everything is gone on the iphone and i have to restore! I hope i can restore from backup and it will use the most frequent backup , but else, im screwed...

Anyone have this problem when trying to update to 3.1.3?

Happens to people all the time. Restore your phone the last backup will be there.

yeah thanks for the replies though. I got everything back like it was. Loving that backup feature now.

I've never had this issue before though...

I had the same problem with this update. just hooked back up and it did a full restore and all is normal. was a little worried at first, but no issues with phone now.

I had to restore my phone after this update too....first time this has happened with an update. A little scary, but got everything back (I think - I haven't had time to play around with everything, but it looks like everything is back)

Why did I choose to update in the morning?

Now my iPhone is in lala land. Everytime I attempt recovery, it fails. . .

The restore attempts to work, but it fails each time...

I get:

The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (2005).

Wow....luckily my restore from backup worked out just fine , and the iphone is running great now... though today I had a safari hickup where it wouldnt load any page at all, thats prolly just a bug or something.

have you tried looking on the Apple discussions board at all though?

Usually trying a different USB port and/or USB cable will get you past error 2005

The trick is to do a full SMC Reset then try again without anything else plugged in.

I am sitting in a restaurant hijacking their free WIFI to do my restore.

I have a 32GB iPhone, I might be here a while. . .

Good thing I just bought a new MBP Battery!

It is amazing how addicted I got to my iPhone. I was lost this morning without it.
