So I accidentally erased some stuff in Cache in my Library Folder.
I went to restore Library to how it was an hour ago (when it was fine) and in the middle of "replacing" the Library I have now it says I don't have permission to do that.

I NEED to restore the Library to how it was an hour ago...how can I do this?

It erased all my browser settings/toolbars/extensions/settings and everything because it stopped half way through.

Please help me.

Presuming you are using an admin account then try this:

  • Locate the folders/files that you want to restore in Time Machine
  • Right Click on the item and select 'restore xxxx to....'
  • Restore it to your desktop and then move it to the original location.

If you get the same error then you will need to use 'sudo' from the command line to move the files, entering your password when prompted. For example;
Code:
sudo mv ~/Desktop/Library ~/Library
Failing that, you could do a complete Time Machine restore, but that might be a little drastic.

I did unfortunately :(

And everything is back to normal...mostly. But my old Cache list was huge and now it's a lot smaller and I'm noticing this extra .db file.

Do I need to drag this into the Cache Folder? Why is that there and why isn't my list as large as it used to be?
