Is either account transferable to other devices, like to an internet tv with apps?

I would add to your question:

Can you play either app on more than one device simultaneously (different shows) with one account?

For example, I could be watching a movie in the Living Room, others in their bedroom could be watching a different movie, and another person yet another movie on his iPad?
If yes, is there a limit for that?

Okay I'm going to go try it.

Yes you can, but don't know the limit. Just tried it on 2 devices

Edit: For Netflix on TV and iPad, yes. I don't have Hulu plus any longer so i dont know for that but I would assume so.

Very timely thread

I am buying a tv...and one of The big deals is Internet TV vs Internet Connected with Apps.

I have ended up with just a Internet connected (Samsung un55c6300SF)...and a Sony Internet tv with Blue Ray.

But I am not sure I really need the Sony internet Tv. But I want to be able to pull up shows that played on HBO and SHOWTIME, etc.

What are other people doing?

Currently, I have to hookup a laptop to the tv. Because it is such a mess to deal with I rarely do it.

Btw, I also have Blockbuster online and have always preferred it over Netflix because Blockbuster has a store 2 mins down the road and I can drop off a movie from the mail and exchange it for free with a movie in the store.

Anyway, I am just overwhelmed with all of the options.

I use a PS3 for Netflix, my baseball with MLB.tv and Hockey with Game Center. VuDu for rentals. I used to use Hulu plus with the PS3 but no longer. I have PlayON 'on' the PC that streams my movies to the TV. With added plugins I also have hul, crackle, NBC, TBS and a bunch more including some off the wall channels that have lots of content. If I could get live football somewhere I'd be golden. So many options these days ;)

Netflix absolutely sucks for movie content streaming. 95% of the content are movies I've never even heard of, and the ones that I have are usually bad as well. It doesn't even come close to pay-per-rental services from Amazon, Vudu and the like, but none of those are available on the iPad. MSpot is another option that is much better than Netflix and does have an iPad app.

In terms of TV, Netflix does have a pretty extensive catalog of things that have already been released to DVD, with some big ommissions (like The Simpsons), but no current season TV. Hulu+ has mostly bad older shows available, but does offer current season shows. However, their current season excludes some of the shows that are available to watch on the regular Hulu free sight, like again The Simpsons and South Park.

So there's no really good solution here. Assuming you are just talking iPad apps, if you want movie rentals I'd just rent them one-off using MSpot. If you want current TV shows, Hulu+ is the only option (well, another option is to get the Skyfire browser app for the iPhone and stream Flash off of the network sites). If you want older TV shows than Netflix is probably the best bet.

It's weird that iTunes don't stream yet, but hopefully that'll come soon.

You must not like the good movies. Tons of stuff but the difference between Netflex and the others, one fee 7.99 for all you can watch in a month. Sorry you didn't like it though. But I like VuDu from th little I've seen of it.

I love good movie and I'm a huge movie buff. I have a list of my top 100 movies of all time, and there are only 2 of them available to streamon Netflix, even though ALL of them are available to rent on DVD. And almost nothing current. Thus, I''ll stand by my statement that the streaming movie content is absolutely terrible on Netflix. Amazon and Vudu are multiple times better (although still not that great), but admitedly much more expensive if you watch more than 2 movies in a month.
