We were already planning to cancel our Hulu ad-free sub this month and try HBO for a bit, so the timing works out well. But as far as the bundle option goes (besides ESPN having no value to us)...we opted to subscribe to Disney+ for 3 years upfront in order to get it for $3 a month. So if I did want to switch to a bundle at this point, I'd basically be paying twice for Disney+ and it's sure not worth that!! :D

Still on my $1.99/mo ad-supported Hulu for 3 more months. If they're raising prices and if there's another Black Friday promo this year, I guess it will be $2.99/mo?

Not worth it at $2.99/mo. There's hardly anything worth watching as it is now.
I absolutely agree. We’re on our second round of Black Friday subscription (I think the previous one was $0.99 and the one from last year is $1.99 a month). We hardly ever watch anything on Hulu and it’s probably not even worth the BF price for us. Netflix has much better content. We also don’t care about sports so ESPN is not relevant for us. We do have Disney+ and the kids use it a lot. Occasionally we will watch something on Prime (which we only have because we buy a lot from Amazon). I can’t believe Hulu live is $65. That’s cable territory. We use Philo for the few cable channels my wife likes to watch (and to get NickJr for the kids). It’s a great value at $20. If it was for me though I’d cancel all the subscription and stick with YouTube. Tons of great content on there for free (with ads of course).

Just cancelled my subscription...hardly watch it anyways...
It would be more worth it, if I were totally Over the Top (internet only TV), but I have the full COX package, so I have all the TV networks and on demand for recent episodes (in some cases full archives)...that, with Netflix and I really have everything...Hulu is a duplicate service for me...

Same here. Plus, I don't watch it much anyway.

Interesting. I pay for Disney+ ($8) and Hulu ad free ($12) so it was the same price whether or not I signed up for the bundle. Being as I have zero interest in ESPN, I pay for them separate…. Now they are charging more separately so it would be cheaper to sign up for the bundle with ESPN. I guess I understand but I’m literally never going to watch ESPN. Kinda annoying to sign up for the bundle but whatevs. I guess that’s fine.
This is where I’m at. Anytime I’ve gone onto the ESPN app, practically anything I’m curious to see costs extra so I just leave it alone. There’s a pretty great Bruce Lee documentary on there though.

What are you saying? I think I use Hulu as much as HBO Max. Is something wrong with me?

Per the article, "One of Hulu’s big selling points is that it’s the only service that gives viewers next-day access to current shows from each of the major U.S. broadcast networks." I use it for FX and NBC shows as well as some NBC, SNL, vintage stuff etc.
It's something those people say to make them seem hip. There's always a handful of people making these comments on articles like this, whether it be Hulu, Netflix, HBO, or whatever.

Hulu, disney, Netflix, HBO, Internet service. Might as well pay for cable 😂

These streaming services take turns raising prices, it’s ridiculous.

Apple hasn't raised their price, so they must be next.

Right? I thought competition was supposed to lower prices not let everyone raise them together. Where is the government regulation? We need to protect the consumers from this blatant price fixing and collusion going on between streaming services.

Hulu's ad-insertion and targeting algorithm is terrible! It's intrusive, random, and repetitive. Maybe that's deliberate in order to drive people to pay up for a premium subscription. Either way, it's ANNOYING.

I sure wish there was a company that offered one-stop-shopping for all these channels, a single bill each month, and a free set-top box for my TV...oh, wait a minute!

Seriously, the extreme balkanization of streaming video content providers is yet another example of how what's good for the entertainment business is bad for viewers. We've gone from one extreme, forced bundles of huge numbers of channels, to another extreme, where anything desirable requires another "exclusive" subscription.
What free set-top hardware rental fees is the worst part of traditional cable

I get Disney+ for a month whenever they have something I want to watch, then cancel it. I have zero interest in ESPN. I can't stand ads, so I'll just keep my Hulu ad-free all by itself.

I can't think of a single reason to have Hulu. Isn't it mainly full of laugh-track sitcoms? Disney+ is dirt cheap with a lot of content, Netflix is the bread and butter everyone has with tons of content, I've got Apple TV+ bundled with Apple One since I have so many Apple services my family uses and Apple TV+ has some good shows. And YouTube exists. I just don't have time for lower tier streaming services like Hulu.

They just go back and forth, pretending to improve while actually moving in circles. Rather than offering a single package or customisable package, they just bundle, letting us believe we get a better deal while most not even watching 99% of those shows. For me YouTube is still more appealing than these cable shows. If I want to watch one show badly, I just buy it.
You mean like Cable TV?

Corporate greed never ceases to amaze. Charge more for the same service, year after year. Break up bundles to only come back to bundles. Eliminate ads to only reintroduce ads.
They never learn, and this is their infinite cycle no one will be able to break. If Netflix fails, I don’t think anyone else can break it.

It’s human greed that is the root cause. Actors in shows want more and more money for their talent even as ratings for shows decline over time. Producers tend to want the same. Cost in general have been going up for non-greed reasons, so sets are more expensive to build, filming on location is more expensive, etc. etc. so all those cost is being passed on to others. And yes, stockholders always want more return on their investments too. Corporations with stagnant flat earnings are considered failures. It’s always got to be more More MORE!!

Was this available for new customers only (as in I should cancel the month before) or was it available for extensions of current subs?

I was one of the lucky ones to get on the $9.99 Spotify/Hulu bundle so I basically get Hulu for free. So glad I did that now.
