I would like Apple News more if it would let me remove the Digest and anything political but those are mandatory followed items.

I can actually open it if I just show hidden files in the App folder. Top news is available along with specific news sources, but curated daily news is locked out.

But it goes without saying it should of been localized to Canada a long time ago.

Yeah, I totally agree. Canada is not just some random country. It is one of the 7 or so most important nations in the world.

If you really do this then you have no idea about what is happening in the world. With the exception of CNN and Buzzfeed, the NYT and WaPo are primary sources not aggregators. They write the articles that everyone else will reference or modify when writing their own version. I would include the WSJ as well.

You have a choice. You can either live in the real world or you can live in a fantasy parallel universe thinking that everything is a conspiracy. If you don’t want centrist/center-left politics then don’t read their political articles. All will be labeled “opinion.” Politics is just a fraction of news content.
The NYT times is the organization all others follow when setting the news agenda for the day.

That's not a debatable point, either.

But it is incredibly and hopelessly biased.

I'm sure I (and others) could spend the next 24 hours providing you with examples and explanations and there'd be many more left over for the other 364 days.

Recognizing the bias of a publication is not the same thing as not living in the real world or believing some conspiracy.

I know you know this.

Or better yet, use Feedly. I use Newsify with Feedly. I can view in browser and in apps.

Yes, I also use Feedly within Newsify. I prefer the Newsify UI over Feedly. And if you use the Newsify premium service, they fully load all the article information which Apple News and native Feedly do not do.

Having humans (which all are biased when it comes to personal views) pick the news articles that you will be seeing is a terrible idea no matter your own beliefs. Most likely this is being done to push Tim Cook's social agenda on all Apple devices. I'm a moderate person with a mix of liberal and conservative beliefs and I think this is a terrible idea. Humans are biased by nature and it will be passed on.

Well, the Apple News Feed that powers the Stocks app in iOS12 is garbage. Doesn’t even pick up earnings releases. So I’ll take the boogeyman algorithms back in that case, thanks

I like to use Apple News from time to time. However I don't want it to pull up articles from sites I visit. I see articles from many sites I've been to already throughout the day. But if you know I visit foxnews or CNN, pull me articles from other places related to it. Not sites I've already visited. If I want a tech channel, don't use sites I visit regularly. I want to see something different.

Except algorithms are programmed by humans. Is it possible for a human being to create a bias free algorithm?

I’m a moderate, too. I use Apple News as just quick summary source or supplement. I get news from all over the place. In the case of Hurricane Florence when I was trying to find out if the family home we share with in-laws was destroyed or not, I had to dig down to find tweets from people who actually live there as well as rely on emails from neighbors and friends who got back to us as soon as the evacuation was over.

Local reporters who actually live and work in the affected communities did a great job and were compassionate trying to find out if people’s homes were still standing for Hurricane Michael.

The mainstream news sensationalized everything surrounding Florence to a level of hysteria and inaccuracy that was reprehensible. As if there hadn’t been enough real death and destruction for them to wallow in.

It’s sad that when we have the means to disseminate news so rapidly and effectively, we have the least amount of journalistic integrity and ethics on display, ever. All this manipulation and outright fabrication is driven by corporate sponsorship/ownership or partisan puppet masters with backdoor means of influence. You have to dig to find honest people still doing honest news reporting, giving the basic who, what, when, how and why without using the “why” as a means to introduce bias to push an agenda.

Yeah sure, keep telling yourself that. Please do some research. You act as if those are the primary source for valid news. They're not, and far from it. Not everything is a "conspiracy", most conspiracies end up being true any and to every conspiracy there's truth behind it. Which most people are too blinded too see because all they read, see and hear is propaganda from the MSM. Don't be lazy, if you want to know the truth, do your own research. It's out there.

Most of Apple News will skew to the left because all the curators are to the left and Apple is to the left. It’s not complicated.

Cue incoming #NPC comments re: Breitbart and Fox News in 3,2,1

I'm referring to the news app made by Apple. Not talking about the news articles that are curated by them.

So not important, but I’ve seen enough of terms like Human Curation to last me a lifetime.

Human Curation sounds very artificial and inpersonal. It sounds like A.I. came up with the term.

Why complicate it?

Apple News Editor is fine.

I am just so over these doublespeak and business slang ways to describe things in various forms of business.

I don’t read or watch the news, I trip over enough on Twitter.

So, while that’s nice the actual editor selects certain stories, it’s not going to be read by me no matter what they call it. :p

Can you name four or five of your favorite sources you rely on for your daily news?

So you trying to pressure him into telling you what his preferred sources are so you can trash them correct? You can’t see that he has a fair point... that he likes that he can pick and choose which sites he trusts and doesn’t. Like any other citizen.

I loved Apple News when I could add my own sources and remove those I didn't want. Then they removed that feature. No thanks. I tried Beats and Apple Music, but they were off on a lot. Pandora is really accurate at giving me music I like.

Holy Moly! You think the NYT and Wapo are the only primary sources out there!

...and if algorithms are built on search and browsing data customized to that individual’s own personal, political, religious, and social bias, does that solve your issue with human bias? Because way I see it, if you’re getting algorithmic news that satisfies your world views, then your views are left unchallenged, cementing bias further, hitting that like button and feeding the algorithmic bias fire more. But what do I know.

Please point me to the truth. Give me just 3 consistent sources to get me started.

Look at the current ongoing story making up this news cycle. The MAGAbomber. It is very real yet all of these “red-pill” obsessed Matrix fans are calling it another false flag operation. If they didn’t spend so much time listening to people like Molyneux and Jones, they would realize how crazy this is. Does anyone think the NYPD would mobilize their full power to block off dozens of blocks during early morning rush hour in Manhattan for nothing?

What about Jamal Khashoggi? Is he alive and well? The Saudis finally admitted his murder was premidated after playing games for the whole month. It was ordered by MBS but anyone who knows anything about the ME already knew that when he went missing inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.
