Hi All - Not sure if anyone else has seen, but a pretty nice looking Humble Bundle this week - including both Dragon Age games!

I'm curious though, since I don't have Windows on my late 2013 MBP Retina 13" will I only be able to play DA2 and not the original? Also, anyone foresee any problems running it on this machine? Ultimately I'll still buy just for DA2 for ~$5 but I'd hate to have to lug out my old 2010 Toshiba laptop just to play the original, haha

tx in advance!

There was a Mac version of DA: Origins, though "Mac version" is a bit misleading since it was really a wrapped Windows version. But it ran well for the few hours or so that I played it (just didn't grab me I'm afraid). So I expect you could run it through WINE yourself without problems.

Dragon Age Origins is offered through both Steam and Origin, so it should be mac compatible. Dragon Age 2 is only through Origin, so its probably not compatible.

edit: My bad, I was under the impression that Steam games are mac compatible. Seems HB is saying DA origins is only for Windows, and DA 2 is Mac compatible.

Apologies for the slight hijack.

It's been a while since I've been on Steam, and I've not used Origin before.

What does it mean when it says, "Pay $1 or more for access to Origin and Steam keys."?

Oh, and will I be able to play both Dragon Age games offline without having to link to Steam?

The games aren't DRM-free, so you have to at least pay $1 to get the keys. Humble used to not have a minimum and people would buy tons of keys to resell for a penny each and it would cost them money.

You have to use either Steam or Origin, though both have offline modes. Dragon Age II is Origin-only.

I think there's some confusion going on here. Let me try to clarify:

  • All the games in this bundle are playable on Origin for Windows.
  • Dragon Age: Origins, Dead Space 2, Bejeweled 3, and Mass Effect 2 can be redeemed on Steam for Windows if you pay $1 extra for a Steam key. Of these, only Bejeweled 3 can be played through the Mac Steam client.
  • Dragon Age 2, Peggle, and Bejeweled 3 can be played through the Mac Origin client.

Ah. Thanks.

It says for some games they can be redeemed on both Origin and Steam. I take it that really means "both...and" and not "either...or", so I would get keys for DA for both Origin and Steam and essentially have two copies/licenses of the game. Sorry for the noob questions. :D

Yes. But the Origin key is for all the Origin games, rather than individual.
