Humorous Apple Ads Highlight MacBook's Power and Battery Life

But who am I to challenge Apple's marketing division reasoning. They know their demographics and what they want to achieve with which ad.
And sometimes they even achieve more than they thought they would by crushing things.

Actualy you can say it this way... "the typical cheap $400 laptops can't do that". "But this thing costs over $1,000, so it can."

It doesn't matter much who built it. What's different about Apple is that they ignore the low-end segment of the market.

I guess diversity doesn't extend to lower income people.

I disparaged the Apple Card ads last week, but I was laughing out loud at these. I guess there's no accounting for taste!

Also, Brownie from Reservation Dogs ... yes!

Tim Cook is to blame for Apple's ads being so dull (just like him). Clueless Cook stopped Apple's partnership with TBWA\Chiat\Day, which is the advertising agency that Steve Jobs hired in 1983 for the legendary "1984" commercial. TBWA\Chiat\Day also made Apple's 1997 "Think Different" campaign and 2006 "Get a Mac" campaign.

Clueless Cook canceled Apple's partnership with TBWA\Chiat\Day and decided to make Apple's ads in house. Apples in-house ads are soulless (just like Cook).

I like the "Find My" one because it sort of teaches how to use the feature. The other two just brag about stuff, but have no teaching aspect to them.

They are not ignoring it. They have chosen not prioritise it. Which is fine.

Preowned Apple hardware would be a very fine alternative to new stuff in the low-end segments, and being rational and realistic, a very economical ownership is well within reach given someone already can afford "new low-end stuff". It requires a more pragmatic approach preferably a "annual cost of ownership" mindset.

One might even get gear outperforming the new and shiny lower end stuff spending less. The annual costs of purchasing e.g. a 2 year old Mac Mini M1 512/16 and keeping it for say 3 years would probably cost me about USD 9 a month or less.

That should be edible for many. I've stopped checking out MBP's but I recon the one I had (maxed out) would cost about USD 10 a month over 4 years.

It's not Apple product ownerships that are expensive. It's the habit of getting the latest and greatest.

Would agree that Apple commercials are a tad dull. Apparently they are governed by a looong list of no can do's as the number of entities easily offended is huge. In my opinion a similar thing governs Apple series/movies, and it makes the content somewhat sleek and toothless. Not really an edge suitable to trigger any pulse in one direction or another.

This is really funny to me lmao. I think it's made for my demographic cause I guess older Macrumors members are saying it's not funny. Im in my 20s so I think it's made for TikTok, Instagram, etc. as opposed to whatever older people use nowadays. I can see this playing during an ad break of the NBA for example. These are good ads imo.

I'm feeling a little attacked since I'm much closer in age to those professors. But I went to college before you brought laptops to class. Even when I went to grad school, most of the class didn't have a laptop in front of them though they all had computers at home by that point. I was one of the students with a laptop and yeah I had to deal with charging and a machine that certainly couldn't handle major applications. But yeah, those are funny ads.

But do they switch to an external 4k monitor without issue? Because that is what I’m waiting for. My son’s M1 MBP has issues sometimes turning on from sleep when on external power and switching to the external monitor it is almost always connected to.
Mine does.
I run a studio on a 4k external all the time with no issue, and plug my MacBook pro into one from time to time, also with no issue.

Bah humbug! This is pretty ’Ageist’, biased and poorly concieved series of ads.

I’m older than the grouches in these poor quality ads and I can honestly say that it’s younger Android generation users that don’t get the advantages of Macs, I’m the oldest person at work, but it’s the rest of the team that don’t get this because none of them have ever used a Mac, though a few of the older ones love their iPhones.

A few times co-workers have said ‘you can plug in here’ or ‘have you got a charger‘ after a few hours working together and I’ve said, ”it’s fine it’s a Mac, I’ve still got 50/60/70/80% battery” (yes I really said ‘it’s a Mac’) and they look skeptically at me while they fetch their chargers but never mention that my laptop lasts way longer than their PCs at the end of the day. They probably don’t want to give me the satisfaction of admitting that they’re impressed. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Dark, creepy, and cringe-worthy.

They’ve not going to go over well in the education market — insulting professors and librarians is not the way to win friends and influence people!

Even the crush press iPad ad was better than this drivel and that’s a very low standard to pass!

Apple, ever and always in pursuit of the wrong things, actually thought these were good ads.

We know why.
