Is fortnite any fun? Looks just like an add on pack for the sims 4. But with all the attention it has gotten I’m getting curious to download it on my PC.

It was fun when it was new. Every game was a new battle with a simple concept. Now it's so complicated and just a giant money grab of VBucks to be able to do stupid dances. My kid is cut off from it.

My son plays Fortnite on the Xbox and has friends who play it on PS. Fortnite mobile isn't as good as console or PC. It makes NO sense to spend $4k on a phone with it on there.

Idiots. Don’t they realize you can just side load an app? Just download the .ipa file (Fortnite) and you’re good. Jailbreaking makes it easier. I really hope nobody buys these devices. People will though.

So in order for this to be installed and sold as is, wouldn’t this mean that the phone would have an active Apple ID signed in on it?

Sorry, my Apple ID is worth a lot more to me than just $10k... before I charge you $2k on top of that for my 512gb 11 Pro. 🤣

These multi-thousand-dollar bids have to be fake... Nobody is seriously going to be willing to pay that much just to play Fortnite on an iPhone... You can sideload on an Android for free. Fortnite is still on Samsung's custom Android app store on Samsung devices.

And I'm 100% positive this will get resolved within a month or two, and Fortnite will be back on the app store.

As a gamer I’ve tried fortnite a few times. It’s not for me and as much as I don’t care for it, Apple needs to re evaluate its policies. Especially when it comes to game streaming. Gaming is one of the largest industries at the moment and they (Apple) would benefit from having tens of millions of gamers using their devices to play.

the problem is Apple doesn’t want to let you play, but control what you play and how you do so. Typically arrogant “we know better” Apple.

only 350 million registered players as of May 20, 100 million more than the prior year?

The metric you want to know is monthly active users and in particular what that number looks like for iOS. It could be that the game is declining but registered players wouldn't decline because inactive users are still registered. Registered users also does nothing to measure engagement where someone could come in, play a few games and then never touch the app again. I did some searching myself and didn't see a recent reference to it. The best I got was concurrent users hit 12 million during a special event but that also doesn't break out just iOS versus other platforms. I've also anecdotally heard that Fortnite's numbers are declining over time but I've not been able to substantiate it.

if you spend that much money for a game you deserve to be poor
This kind of thing isn't how people get or stay poor. Usually it's through running up credit card debt, shopping at local more expensive stores, playing the lottery, and most importantly, having an insufficient skillset to make a better income. It really all comes down to education at the end of the day.

Only game I actually miss. I don’t understand why the game couldn’t just carry over if I had downloaded it previously. It’s still in my App Store. :/
That happens when companies fight for a bigger slice of the pie. Epic is trying to increase their profit by 30% so it's worth it to them.

Next season of Fortnite starts in under a week so it is likely to stop working before anyone even receives these scam phones 🤣

This happened when Flappy Bird (or whatever it was called) disappeared years ago. eBay's policy is that all electronic devices be reset to factory spec's when changing ownership. These listings violate that policy and just like the Flappy Bird phones, they will be taken down.

Even if you disregard the eBay policies, even if you assume that some people just have to play on iPhone for some reason, and even if you disregard the AppleID issues...

I still just don’t see how this could possibly be a long-term situation. Epic and Apple will go pound their chests in court, and either someone will win or they will settle. Fortnite will probably find its way back to the App Store, and even if it doesn’t, players will just move on to some other game, diminishing the appeal of Fortnite. And as others have mentioned, it is unclear how long the existing installations will remain functional anyway.

One way or another, I would say that there is a 90% chance that having Fortnite preinstalled will become irrelevant within a year.
