Ceiling fans are affordable under $100. Really nice ones are up to $200. >$300 is really expensive for a ceiling fan but for a "connected" fan that's the first (or close enough) to market it's not a bad price.
I'm in the '$379 is cheap camp'. We put $400+ Casablanca fans in our last house and they were brilliant, silent on low and like standing in a gale on high. Our current rental has some crappy Home Depot offerings and they're barely worth turning on. I want Big Ass Fans in my next home!

For all the comments about laziness etc... I think people are missing the point. For me home automation like this isn't so much to do with controlling everything from the sofa, but about efficiency. A smart fan can turn on and off as needed and working in conjunction with smart thermostats etc... can be used to maintain a comfortable environment with minimum wasted energy.

So you're saying that Siri is not recognizing your voice instructions? That would not be a HomeKit problem, but a sound problem... or an internet connection problem to Siri's servers. You think?

Were the replacement fans upwards of $400 each?

I don't have that many fans. Not very popular. - jk

I like to budget 1k per fan.

I'm way late, but I was hoping to see some kind of better HomeKit integration like the Nest and Big A** Fans. Nest and BAFs work together to control the temperature in a home. Essentially, the thermostat is controlling the ceiling fans to regulate temperature possibly eliminating the need to run the HVAC. Now I think that is pretty genius.
