Here's a NWS GOES16 Clean Window IR Band (prelim & non-op) shot of Maria, as it approaches Dominica.

Can't wait for GOES 16 to become fully operational this winter.

Right now it looks like it'll miss Florida. I won't be here anymore for it, but it would suck if my parents had to put up all the shutters themselves. Doesn't look like there is a very high chance it comes to the western coast of Florida though.

Apparently, the NWS is expecting Maria to hit Puerto Rico at Cat 5. While it is looking to avoid the mainland for the moment our citizens in PR are in for a helluva blow.

I sure hope you're right. I am not interested in being bored for 4 days again and stuck inside a house with no sunlight because of shutters.

Wow! That reminds me of my ex-wife- a lot of noise and anger surrounding a hole of nothingness. Her name was Maria, too.

Pressure continues to drop and the winds keep increasing.

Here's the NWS/Hurricane Center alert for Maria, (as of an hour ago). Thankfully it looks to be turning North and heading away from the rest of the Caribbean and may just follow Jose and avoid the US.

bet Trump doesn't even send help/funds

(Our) President Trump has donated to Texas and Florida due to the aftermath of Harvey and Irma. Meanwhile, we're just recovering from the latter. It is likely he'll spare a bit of change to Puerto Rico, considering it is part of the United States.

So far, we've had 4 significant storms in 2017, and at least a few more are looking likely. This doesn't happen. Especially with the most controversial president in US history in office for his first year.

I'm thinking geoengineering. Tell me somebody else is onto that.

And PLEASE tell me it won't be too long before some reporter on a weather channel starts to wonder whether this is natural and brings that up. Shortly after, the entire Internet buzzes with the prospect of hurricane geoengineering, potentially for political purposes.
